Testing web server on local network with ports... how to use with hosts file?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: June 8, 2009
I have just setup a local webserver on a (virtual machine) Ubuntu box.
I have successfully set up multiple sites via virtual hosting using the server's IP with a different port number for each website.
Since this is only intended for local testing, it wasn't necessairy to access these via the web, so I went ahead and added each adress to my local Windows HOSTS file so I could test the websites with their actual domain names.
I found out you can't use port numbers in the HOSTS file... So what are the alternatives?

How to ssh with given private and public keys
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 18, 2012
I am trying to ssh to a server that already has the the public key and on my machine I already have the private key and the public key.
When I try to connect to the host this is the error I got:
Permission denied (publickey).
I've tried to rename the public key in ~/.ssh/ to authorized_host or to id_rsa.pub but I have always the same problem.
Here the first few lines of the private key:
And the public key:
ssh-rsa AAAAB3NzaC1yc2EAAAADAQABAAABAQDYBFP6ihc3Q6U/+rMJO+kgSc9xtcT4HxxjSR10BqJDz3lWnr7YSxmQxbSI7mnKRC +zBvPj9ADphjBm7p27N/08BN6kGqVQbSqYOJ4eeAOC5IzphH9qZBoY+Q7dmXGwR/DcPAXJXPFs62rTUVDPdeB4ZVbNW/j8e/oJuhvJxFZkGHw1QYGoptHItLctS8Kvpgi1ObrT3YxSNZai8cMN oAizEL7V8jxwk3Ep1U3rcK1lHxe1E3X7Wl3Y/+Ww+cb8VZNO29jAuX+wjXbtOElmamvZT5ECbCJXm2kYoWRiSwF eGg2v6MeTjZUZIT98DaKUQLbs+sizwkKNNbd+lMHaXCPZ NCC Graduate Key
I think that either one of them is in the wrong format, but I can't figure it out.
I hope someone of you can help me with this
How to patch with a diff file?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 27, 2011
On Natty, the mail-notification-evolution package installs but fails to load. See Debian Bug here: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=617771
I'd like to try and patch the Ubuntu build of the deb package with the posted diff/patch file. I've read several articles on this, but as I've never done this - it's confusing.
How do I apply a diff file to a deb? (See attached archive for the two files)
