How to disable ipv6 in Jaunty
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: February 10, 2009
I have found out my ISP's DNS server does not like IPv6 very much.
It appears Jaunty now has ipv6 built into the kernel instead of as a module, so changing /etc/modules.d/aliases to disable ipv6 does not work.
I am wondering then, how do you disable ipv6 in Jaunty?

How to disable ipv6 on NetBSD?

Because pkg_add always tries ipv6 first, I am getting long, unnecessary delays when using pkg_add to install packages over the internet. As I have absolutely no need whatsoever for ipv6, I would like to disable it, but the only stuff on disabling it I've been able to find involves a kernel recompile, which I simply do not have the time to do. Can anyone tell me how to disable ipv6 so that pkg_add doesn't annoy me?

Jaunty: How to disable IPV6?

OK, someone may say I'm the 1000th person to ask this but i haven't found the answer anywhere. Actually I've found the same solution in different places but it doesn't work at all here.
I tried setting /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/all/disable_ipv6 to 1, then booting. But as soon as I login, it's back to 0 and "ip a" shows inet6 there.
I also tried adding ipv6.disable=1 to my kernel boot line in /boot/menu/grub.lst, but I get "unknown option ipv6.disable ignoring".
The only way I succeeded was recompiling the kernel with no ipv6 support, but then I can't manage to install broadcom sta drivers, so I gave up on that.
I'm having serious package drops with ipv6 enabled. When I tried opensuse 11.1, I disabled ipv6 and got virtually no package drop. And I tested it thoroughly, so I'm almost certain it's something to do with IPV6 before someone asks.

[SOLVED] How to Make A Dynamic Link?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 27, 2008
I am utterly appalled at my inability to find this, both by this forum (although, not blaming it) and by Google.
My Problem: My dynamic link for plugins (for Swiftfox) is pointing to the wrong folder. I am not sure how to edit it, create a new one, or anything about dynamic links.
I suppose, I could create a symbolic link. But what am I doing wrong to find simple information about a dynamic link? One would think "How to create a dynamic link in linux" and all its variations would yield some helpful results in Google and/or this forum.
Anyway, any and all help is appreciated as usual. Thanks!
