[SOLVED] SLES 11.1 disable ipv6 autoconfiguration
location: linuxquestions.com - date: March 23, 2011
On a SLES 11.1 PPC (126.96.36.199-0.3-ppc64) system, I am trying to disable ipv6 autoconfiguration. I do NOT want to disable ipv6 entirely, because I do want the machine to use the static ipv6 IP the network gods here have assigned it. I want to remove the automatically configured global address so there's no confusion about where ipv6 traffic is leaving from or arriving at.
I have the following in /etc/sysctl.conf:
[SOLVED] Disable IPv6 in Alpine Linux
location: linuxquestions.com - date: January 26, 2012
I am running Alpine Linux version 2.2 and I can't seem to disable IPv6. I tried adding the line "blacklist ipv6" to the "/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf" file but did not work. If someone could post a sure fire way to acheive this I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
What is the "proper" way to completely disable IPv6?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: March 15, 2011
Hey guys. Is simply adding "alias net-pf-10 off" to modprobe.conf enough to keep IPv6 completely dead? Should I comment out the IPv6 loopback address in /etc/hosts or anything like that?
[SOLVED] Disable IPv6 autoconfig on Solaris 9/10
location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 20, 2011
I have a Solaris 9 system and a 10 system I have successfully configured with a static IPv6 address and route. I received the addresses from the network gods here, and I can't use autoconfig for my users' purposes because they want the address to be in DNS (autoconf doesn't put the address into DNS, and DHCPv6 is not used here).
Now, I would like to disable the autoconfiguration, to prevent possible confusion with my users ("Why is ipv6 traffic coming from a different address than what's in DNS?" "What's this second address in the output of 'ifconfig'?").
For Solaris 10, I have read that entering
How to remove dynamic IP address allocation for network interface in ubuntu 12.04??
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 7, 2014
I have plugged in 9 network interfaces to my server and planning to use one for physical host and other's for virtualbox VM's.
I have installed ubuntu 12.04 on my server and configured eth0 static ip but ips were allocated for all the interfaces from eth0 to eth8 dynamically.
Could you please let me know how to remove dynamic IP address allocation for my network interface eth1 to eth8?

Unable to disable ipv6 in Karmic Beta
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 3, 2009
I made a clean install of Karmic Koala and suddenly found out that it's impossible to disable ipv6 so internet is reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeallllllyyyyyyyyyyyy slow . First of all, I looked up in the whole Ubuntu related sites for solutions, besides the one for Firefox (in about:config, Oh...that made the trick but only for firefox!) and no one seems to be working (for example the "ipv6.disable=1" on /boot/grub/grub.cfg isn't working)
The problem is that I have extremely long delays with internet related commands such as ping, apt-get update, or whatever you can imagine
I have the same problem in old versions of ubuntu, but using the forums i was able to turn off ipv6 support (for example modifying /etc/modprobe/aliases)... Now I can't figure out what to do Is there any way to disable ipv6 or I will have to reinstall Jaunty and wait for Karmic's final release to see if there where any solution to my problem?
