location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 13, 2011
Hello. I'm working on a project to have our company logo image display on the screen during bootup. Our platform is an embedded Linux device running on a custom configured linux kernel 18.104.22.168. Our development distro is Ubuntu 10.04.
I am currently trying to get fbsplash to work on our device with no luck so far. I am new to this and need some help. Can fbsplash work on an embedded device?
How do I build an embedded Linux Device?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: December 15, 2006
I'm not sure if there are any embedded Linux folks hear but I have few questions on building a small Linux computer. If I wanted to build a small Linux computer (Hand held device) what hardware should I consider for this project? Should I consider an electronics kit for this project? What is the best Linux destro to use for embedded hardware? Is there any books or online materials that can be recommended for learning more about running Linux on embedded devices?
Ubuntu as read only on a embedded linux device for in my car..
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 22, 2013
I got my hands on a couple of old Fujitsu-Siemens windows based terminals. I succesfully managed to install ubuntu 11 on the compact flash card thats inside. The system boots fine (ext3) and I have installed scripts on it for my 3G modem, GPS, webcam etc. I made the system without swap (to save the CF card).. and that works fine. My only worry is that eventually the filesystem could get corrupted by the sudden loss of power the system will experience everytime I turn my car engine off. The scripts write all output to /tmp/ramdisk. Is there a way to make the whole filesystem read only? And how would this impact things like /var/log/messages etc? And can I still make changes to the system in the future then?

I have a scenario listing below, Please let me know how can i achieve this in linux.

Data came into device later and at this point of time how device/driver can tell to application or wakeup the application that now data is ready for read.

How to boot to Ghost for Linux (or similer backup program)
location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 13, 2009
Very new and a bit (ok a lot) lost here. I have M$ xp embedded system that is locked down that we run a music server on. Now every 6 months - 1 Year the hard drive fails. so every update we receive (monthly) I have to drive out, climb up dismantle the unit, remove the hard drive and clone it to a backup drive then drive out and reassemble it. NOT FUN!!!
I have tried to install Norton Ghost, Acronis, DriveImage xml, R-Drive and many more on the xp machine but none work, they either fail to install (because of the fact it is embedded and most of the functions are not installed or running) or fail to run. It will not let me edit the bios (locked and have tried many time and may ways to defeat the password) to boot form cd or usb I can however edit the boot.ini...
So my question to you (and your experience) is can I install a small program that I can select form the win boot.ini that will clone (exact image) the hard drive to a usb drive?
Your time and help is greatly

Implement Server Push on an ARM Embedded Linux device
location: linuxexchange.com - date: January 9, 2013
I've spent some time looking at various ways of pushing data from a web server running on a embedded linux arm platform to mulitple clients. I've looked at APE, Commet, and more but can't find anything suitable for the embedded arm linux world.
Is there an easy method to push real-time data to a web browser from a server running on embedded ARM-Linux platform? (Probably up 20 simulatanous client connections each with about 100 dynamic data points)
