I want to manually install a binary nedit 5.5 X windows editor on CentOS 7 (based on RHEL 7). It's my favorite editor and geany wouldn't install via yum, nor could I download geany for a manual install.
But will it work?
It's a gz file, where can I install this for all users to use?
Which install do I use? Just the plain nedi-5.5-Linux-x86.tar.gz?

How do I install a VPN in CentOS 6.3 / Scientific Linux 6.3?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: March 17, 2013
I've been looking for an easy to follow tutorial on how to install a VPN in CentOS 6.3 / Scientific Linux 6.3 which has Browser Appliance 10.0.9.
I've tried Linux site, Google, YouTube ,and CentOS.org but can't find any instructions or tutorials that are non-complicated.
I'm new to Linux obviously and the best I can find on installing a VPN in CentOS is be "root" and run "yum" command and something about "sudos" (I think its called).
I've spent hours researching but can't find anything useful so does anyone know of a easy to follow step-by-step tutorial on how to install a VPN in CentOS by any chance?

How to install Python2.4 on CentOS 6 when yum is broken?
- date: August 28, 2012
I couldn't find a CentOS-specific forum, and I didn't know if the RHEL folks would resent me posting there, so I settled on the Newbie forum. If this isn't in the right place, I hope the moderator(s) will move it to the correct place and let me know.
I somehow managed to break yum. I think it might have been when trying to install the SVN plugin in Eclipse. So far, my attempts to fix the problem have made it worse.
When I started, I was getting:
~]# yum update
Plugin "refresh-packagekit" can't be imported
