How do I produce sorted list of files in current directory over a certain size?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: October 22, 2006
I have a need to produce a list of files in the current directory which exceed a given size (say, 500k). In addition, the list needs to be sorted by the size of the file from smallest to largest size and not list any file below the given size (again, say 500k). An example of the output I am looking for goes like this:
(SmallFile, which is 499k, would not show up on the report).
I've tried using various combinations of the ls, find, du, and sort commands using the pipe, but I do not get the expected result. Instead, I get things like all files of all sizes (including those below the cutoff) listed in sorted order, or all files greater than the specified size but not in sorted order. I even managed to put together one combination of commands that caused the system to list the same thing over and over non-stop.
Ideally, I can get this task done using a command line entry, as opposed to having to w
ElementaryOS Pantheon Greeter (login screen) text chars are square boxes, how to fix?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: February 15, 2014
This is actually a question concerning ElementaryOS ( elementaryos.org ), which is based off of the latest stable Ubuntu. I posted this question on their forums but I have not received any response.
The login screen (Pantheon-Greeter) is not displaying text properly; all the text, including account names, password input, date (but not time), are displaying the generic white little boxes.
How can I fix this, or reinstall Pantheon Greeter, or reset it? I believe it got messed up after I followed this guide: http://www.binarytides.com/gorgeous-...-ubuntu-linux/
none of the other system menus/apps are affected, just the login screen, so it's isolated to the Pantheon Greeter. How can I fix this? Thank you!

I can't. There always appear a black or white edge on the angles of the square, beyond the limits of the circle.
Is there any way I can get the image edited to a circle?

How can I make getiplayer produce a smaller, watchablequality file.
location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 7, 2014
My humble question:
How do I make get-iplayer produce a filesize (on my hard drive) that ISN'T ON
THE BIG SIDE, and that still gives me a watchable quality?
1. I'm using get-iplayer v2.82. The files I produce on hard drive are all mp4.
2. I've discovered the following (downloading same TV program in both cases):
Using --modes=flashstd and --tvmode=flashhigh2 gives a watchable quality file
which is the SAME FILESIZE as the qualities ABOVE this that --modes and --tvmode
The VERY NEXT step down in quality from the above settings (from my
experimenting) is --modes=flashstd and --tvmode=flashstd1. This gives a smaller
filesize, BUT is *NOT* a watchable quality.
THE POINT BEING THAT YOU DON'T SEEM TO BE ABLE TO DROP DOWN FROM A "TOO BIG"
FILESIZE TO A SMALLER SIZE AND GET A WATCHABLE QUALITY.
3. My command line had the following form:
get-iplayer --get 1234 --modes=flashstd --tvmode=flashhigh2
How do I make vba code compatible with libre office
location: linuxexchange.com - date: July 13, 2014
I have recently migrated to pclinuxos from windows and seem to like it. The only problem I am facing is that libreoffice, the default spreadsheet package is not compatible with excel macros. Below is the vba code I have:
WashCount = 0
WearCount = 0
CurrentRow = Application.ThisCell.Row
For i = 3 To 35
If Range(Cells(CurrentRow, i), Cells(CurrentRow, i)).Value = "a" Then
WearCount = WearCount + 1
If Range(Cells(CurrentRow, i), Cells(CurrentRow, i)).Value = "q" Then
WashCount = WashCount + 1
WearCount = 0
SinceLastWash = WearCount
testhis = Application.ThisCell.Row
Is there a way to convert this code to make it compatible with libreoffice or do I have to learn an altogether ne
