HP MI Edition Ubuntu help Inspiron 1525
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: February 8, 2009
I donwloaded the HP MI Edition and installed it on my Dell inspiron 1525, and everything works perfectly except I have no audio, and in the add/remove software section it apparently only allows software on the HP servers to be installed and I want to add the repos from the normal ubuntu 8.10 archives. Is there any way I can do this? I have never added repos before. I can use the synaptic package manager, but I still would really like to have the original repos, and I definatly need audio.
HP Mi Edition Fresh Install
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 16, 2009
I just got an HP Mini 1000 with HP Mi Edition (tweaked Ubuntu). The ubuntu version they use isn't working for me because I use gmail and because I can't install .deb files. I would like to install off a USB drive.
1) I can't seem to find an easy tutorial for installing. Can someone tell me how to install if I don't have a desktop version of ubuntu with the bootable USB software available?
2) If I do install the clean Ubuntu, will it overwrite the partition that has the restore from HP?
i386 lpia hp mi netbook bitdefender help
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 20, 2009
I am trying to install Bitdefender for Unices i586 version on my Hp Netbook with the hp mi ubuntu version.
I tried this command:
sudo sh ./BitDefenderFileNameandVersion.deb.run
When I do this I get a message:
...package architecture (i386) does not match system (lpia)...
In the past I have tried installing .deb files via this method:
sudo dpkg --force-architecture -i filename.deb
and this seemed to work.
How can I force architecture on the .run file? What would be the proper command?
Thanks ahead of time.
The file I am trying to install is:

HP Mini (1000) Mi Series
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: January 6, 2009
I've just bought one of these sweet looking devices, and despite the fact that I'm fairly certain today was the first day they went on sale (1/6/2008,) I'm hoping you guys and gals can help answer some of my questions:
I believe these lil’ ‘puters are rockin’ the Ubuntu Netbook Remix shell, am I correct? Or is it simply an HP shell over Ubuntu 8.04?I see it says the Command Line prompt will be disabled . . . really? C'mon, really? It should be easy to get into anyway, right? Can other third-party software be added easily? And, perhaps most importantly, can I upgrade to new versions of the OS as they are released? (Muy importante)
I think that's all . . . I'm sure I'll have more questions. I'll also post my thoughts on the device as I'm sure I'm one of only about 14 people who will have one!!
(I'm so excited! It should be here around January 17th or so!!)
Ubuntu 9.04 remix and HP mini 1120nr mi edition
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 10, 2009
I have been searching for EXACT directions on how to run Ubuntu 9.04 remix on my HP mini 1120nr (linux mi version) for 2 weeks and keep running into the same problems/lack of answers.
Is there anyone out there who can give me a step by step of how to run 9.04 from the flash drive and then from a partitioned hard drive?
I already have the img downloaded on the USB and tried booting directly from it but it didn't work. I'm pretty good with computers, but not too great with linux/command. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

HP Mini 110 and Ubuntu issues... Mi solution?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 7, 2009
Ever since i installed Ubuntu on my HP Mini 110 netbook, the audio has not worked (except for one random time during boot, but never before or afterward, and i cant imagine what caused it) and neither has the webcam..at least not well. Ive seen and tried so many different so-called fixes, but to no avail. (Alsa recompilaton, settings, etc...) and i was wondering if maybe, since HP's Ubuntu based distro MI im sure is fully compatible with HP minis, would it be possible to take the drivers (or something of the sort) from the Mi distro and implement them in 9.04? sorry if this is an asinine idea, im new(ish) to linux.
I would love to keep ubuntu but the computers basic functions need to work. (although thats mostly an empty threat... i fubarred the OEM XP install when i was repartitioning fo install fedora, which i since replaced with ubuntu, and to replace XP i installed my copy of the WIndows 7 RC build 7100... also has audio probs and if i recall correctly, no webcam.)
Reinstall Linux on HP Mini 1110MR Mi Edition
location: linuxquestions.com - date: January 9, 2010
I have an HP Mini 1110NR Mi Edition using Linux. Unfortunately I decided to install Windows XP & now have issues. I want to revert to Linux - basically redo everything to the way it was straight out of the box. How can I do this? I have been on HP's website but of course it doesn't say anything about switching from Linux to XP and back again. I believe it can be done but how? Can someone help?
HP mini 1000 mi edition

To whom it may concern,
What does everyone think about the HP mini 1000 mi edition? I am contemplating buying one as a secondary laptop and would like any kind of opinion on it. I have been looking for a netbook with a preinstalled linux distro for a while and would also like to know how mi stands up to other linux distros for netbooks like moblin, moonOS, and ubuntu netbook remix.
