I am currently using an iPhone and I am having problems synchronising it with Xubuntu. I have seen a new phone which has only just been released and was wondering if it is possible to sync it with any Linux operating systems. Does anybody own the new HTC desire and if so, have they run into any compatibility issues? Any help at all will be great as it will help me choose my next phone!
ubuntu touch and dual sim smartphones. is it possible??
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 22, 2013
Hello to all!
I'm an Italian user and I am following the development of ubuntu touch. I like it very much and I can't wait to try it.
Currently I use a dual sim phone, an alcatel 997d. I wanted to ask: will there ever be support for dual sim smartphones? my phone has a 1 GHz processor and 1 GB of RAM so in theory could support ubuntu touch .. but in fact, this is possible?
Dual sim smartphones with Android are doing very successfully. Mark has decided to implement the management of two sim on ubuntu touch?? So maybe some Chinese company (as alcatel, oppo, zte, etc) adopts ubuntu touch and install ubuntu touch on some phones to sell ..in this way ubuntu touch could have more market.
what do you think?

How to use HTC Desire and Eclipse on Ubuntu 10.4 to test Android Apps?
location: linuxexchange.com - date: May 12, 2012
If I try to use my HTC Desire to test Apps I'm developing with Eclipse, then in the screen where I can choose the emulators and connected devices, it is only listed as unknown and a few question marks.
I read that on Windows you need HTC Sync respectively the drivers in this program, but how can I solve this problem on Ubuntu?
ADB missing in Ubuntu for HTC Desire S?
location: linuxexchange.com - date: November 20, 2014
So I switched from Win to Ubuntu 11.10 for my Android development. In the same way as ADB drivers for Win7 was a problem, something weird is happening in Ubuntu as well. I try to run a (runnable) application, but my connected Desire S is somehow not recognized. See the what happens here:
I have tried doing this but it doesn't help. Do I have to install something to make this work? Really annoying that this issue arises in Ubuntu as well, I thought it was not supposed to?

Android Studio does not recognize HTC One M8 Dual Lense as a device
location: linuxexchange.com - date: January 1, 1970
Am having a similar problem as HTC One M8 running on Android Studio but with Windows 7 X64 Android Studio. Maybe someone can provide some hints:
Device: HTC M8 dual lens
Loaded and installed the new sdk: HTCDualLensSDK5
Platform: Windows 7 x64
Android studio (0.6.0)
Updated android_winusb.inf to include
%SingleAdbInterfacd% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0F63
%CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0F63&REV_0232
Enabled USB debugging on HTC M8
RESULT:do not see devices in android studio?
However, explorer shows file contents in M8
Note: running Nexus and Glass with no problem in this studio.
HTC Desire crashed, deleted all SMS/MMS. Can I recover?
location: linuxexchange.com - date: September 4, 2012
Been a reader of SO/SE for a while as am getting into Android development. Just wanted to ask a quick question. Hope someone can help. :)
I have a HTC desire (2.2 with HTC sense, as per stock), never rooted and little used (basic apps installed, not used for any dev) I use as just a phone really. Hence I was very surprised when it crashed the other day and all my SMS/MMS were deleted (the stock HTC Messages app was empty)!
I know I should not have rebooted the device (as file recovery may be easier as it reduces chances of file space being overwritten), but was told to do so by T-Mobile advisor.
Upon reboot, found the stock HTC Messages app used for SMS/MMS was was now populated by SMS that was saved on the SIM. Hence I think, the Desire recreated the SMS/MMS content using the saved SIM messages as a start.
What I would like to know is can the older SMS/MMS be recovered? I assume they are stored in...
...and that this f
HTC Desire HD not accepts setParameter() with hardware.Camera
location: linuxexchange.com - date: November 15, 2011
I'm a student and I am developing on Android 2.2 for a project. For my tests and app executions, I am using an HTC Desire HD (with Android 2.2).
I just want to create a composant (class) to take a picture with the mobile device. I have an Android class, which I use for the getOptimalPreviewSize() method (this method is in the ApiDemos 2.2). This method is used to fix this type of error :

HTTP proxy not working on HTC desire running android 2.2
location: linuxexchange.com - date: March 1, 2013
I am using an HTTP proxy using the following code:
DefaultHttpClient client = new DefaultHttpClient();
HttpHost proxy = new HttpHost(proxyHost, proxyPort, "http");
This works fine on several android devices, all running android 2.3 and higher. However, when I try this on an HTC desire running android 2.2.2 I get the following exception:
