(Precise) HTC One Storage Issue
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 13, 2013
I recently acquired an HTC One. So far, so boring. Now, this thing has 32 GB of internal storage, with about 25 or so available to the user. But when I plug it into my computer (running on Ubuntu 12.04, which is why I'm here and not somewhere else), it for some reason believes there's only 1.6 Gigabytes, despite correctly recognising that there's well more than that saved on the phone already.... and then it freezes for a bit as though it tried dividing by zero and succeeded. How much of those 1.6 GB it claims to be free is different every time I plug it in.
In case it helps, the phone also seems to have a file system by the name of "gPhoto2".
Thanks to that Mark Phelps person, I googled for something else than before... and stumbled upon this:
The guide there is just about perfect, works like an absolute charm.
UBUNTU intrepid How do i view files on my HTC 8525
location: linuxquestions.com - date: March 23, 2009
I am lucky enough to have a htc8525 with WM6. I dont care about sync, i never do that. All i want to do is access files on my drive to transfer movies and such.
I've installed synce and stuff but i dont see anywhere to move/transfer files to my device.
I also tried wm5storage and it seems to work as a usb drive but when i click it i get "unable to mount file" and my dmesg says this
Please help, I need to sync a HTC Hero with my Linux laptop...
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 30, 2009
I need to sync (at least) the contacts between Evolution (on Gentoo) and my HTC Hero.
Currently I've created a temporary "Google" address book in Evolution and copy-paste stuff manually from my real address book to it. This is only one-way, from Evolution to phone, and doesn't preserve all fields. It really sucks.
For this reason, I think I *need* native sync. I already used "msynctool" with a Nokia N82 that supported SyncML. Now afaik I can't use SyncML with HTC Hero, so I installed "synce" which is now registered as an opensync plugin:
~ $ msynctool --listplugins
~/.opensync/group2 $ msynctool --showgroup htchero-evolution

Cannot connect HTC Android phone via Internet Pass through
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: November 12, 2010
I have just bought a HTC Desire Z mobile phone, running Android 2.2.
It has a feature to allow, via the USB cable, use of the Internet connection on a PC so that the phone can connect via that, rather than use the 3G or wi fi when those are not available or not wanting to use them. I want to download lots of applications without draining my 3G data allowance.
I have searched via Google, and some people have said that it just worked for them. They plugged in the phone to their Ubuntu PC and they could use the Internet on the phone.
But I cannot get it to work. I am new to Android, and still figuring out the phone. In the Settings/Wireless & Networks, there is an option for Internet Pass-through, which is trying to connect but never does. Then it comes up with a message saying:
"Unable to connect to PC" and asks me to install HTC Sync software (which is Windows only).
Is there something I need to install in Ubuntu to get it to work?
Cinergy HTC USB xs hd card in 12.04
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: January 9, 2013
I have a Cinergy HTC USB xs hd card in my PC and I installed Ubuntu 12.04.
And now I'm trying to install it - I found the entry on http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/em28xx but there it states that the driver is no longer developed?
Could somebody please guide me through the installation process or has experience with this kind of hardware?
Thanks a lot!
Using HTC Diamond as a Rndis modem
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 1, 2008
Hi, after a small amount of investigation I have finally got the HTC Diamond working as a Rndis modem over the USB port.
What this means is that you can use the Internet connection sharing function of the Diamond to get a computer onto the Internet using the H or G phone data connection.
Please note that the first steps of this guide will work for any ACTIVESYNC connected HTC phone that has the Connection Sharing (it's in the Connection Manager on other HTC phones)
Obviously using data on your mobile costs money so be aware of this and make sure you have a package that has reasonable charges.
finally I have only tested this on an ORANGE HTC Diamond in the UK.
The reason you have to modify the source is that if you don't the rndis fails with an error like (this is seen in the /var/log/syslog)
[355.215268] rndis_host 5-3:1.0: dev can't take 1558 byte packets (max 1536)
you need a working internet connection to set this up

Htc shift wifi problem
- date: March 13, 2009
Recently i bought an HTC SHIFT mini-laptop and since i have been using ubuntu on my earlier Fujitsu T4210 with no problems, i guessed i wont have it here since my HTC SHIFT uses almost the same chipset Intel.
what i have observed that wifi operates manually from within its default operating system Vista which i have completely superceeded by Ubuntu 8.10 and now I am unable to use wifi except wired connection which is working perfectly.
