And by the way, we decided **** Windows and this is to be a Linux EXSCLUSIVE game. So it will be OpenGL based.
This is gonna be big.
Tried installing Ubuntu Lucid Lynx using Live Cd on Compaq Presario SR5010NX
location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 7, 2010
I have been trying to install Ubuntu Lucid Lynx using Live CD on this machine, a compaq Presario SR5010NX, with Celeron D 3.46Ghz CPU. Bios Version American Megatrends, Inc. 5.18, 2007; 2 gigs of RAM with approx. 140 gigs of hard disk space total useable. Has Realtek High Definition audio, graphic chipset Intel 82945G family; Soft data fax modem with smart CP (internal modem). It is connected to my DSL modem/router, Netgear DGN2000, with ethernet cable (as are my other two computers).
Sorry for the long preliminary, but thought it might help to address my problem. I start the installation. Finally the desktop shows up. As soon as I start trying to navigate, my mouse freezes and that's as far as I can go.
Just out of curiosity, I also tried to use my Mint 8 CD. It did the same thing. Gets the desktop up, then freezes. I am so frustrated because I really want Ubuntu on this machine. I planned on wiping out Vista Home Basic and giving the whole thing to Ubuntu.
"Permission Denied" when using Ubuntu live cd to recover thunderbird files.
location: linuxquestions.com - date: June 2, 2009
On a crashed notebook that formally ran a dual boot vista/ubuntu8.10 setup, I'm trying to use an Ubuntu 9.04 live cd to copy my mozilla-thunderbird files to a usb drive. That is really the only thing that I would like save before I reformat the whole drive and install "jaunty".
Unfortunately, when I attempt this with the file browser, I receive this message:
"The folder ".mozilla-thunderbird" could not be copied because you do not have permission to read it." (I assume it's because I'm logged in as Live Session User...?)
Is there some way to log in as an "owner" on a live CD to get permission?
Is there a way to perform this action though the terminal without permission?
is there another live cd I should be using for this?
...or am a way of track?
"Boot error" booting from live USB
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: November 28, 2010
I have intel motherboard(d102ggc2) and 4Gb flash drive.
I've created live USB using usb-creator-gtk(ubuntu 10.04)
There is no option "all fixed disks" in BIOS settings
Drive is formatted into FAT32 using GParted
I'm tying to install ubuntu 10.10 or 10.04
I get "Boot error" when booting using live USB.
There are only two words(please let me know if i can get any other logs).
Issue is not reproducible on other env(hp625 and other desktop).

Cannot install webcam Creative Live! Cam Video IM Pro on Ubuntu Feisty
location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 2, 2007
I tried to install a webcam, Creative Live! Cam Video IM Pro, but my Ubuntu Feisty won't even recognize it as an external device attached to the computer, let alone install any driver... I previously had a similar problem with another webcam on Ubuntu Edgy. Here are the steps I was advised to follow at that time:
sudo apt-get install linux-headers-`uname -r` linux-restricted-modules-`uname -r` build-essential
tar xvfz spca5xx-20060501.tar.gz
sudo modprobe -r spca5xx
sudo rm -rf /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/usb/media/spca5xx*
sudo make install
sudo modprobe spca5xx
Now, the first command gave at the end: "0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded".
The second command gave: `spca5xx-20060501.tar.gz.1' saved
The third gave one error (among all other OK responses) - tar: spca5xx-20060501/drivers: implausibly old time stamp 1970-01-01 01:00
Input/output error when copying files to Fedora Live CD
location: linuxquestions.com - date: December 21, 2010
I booted my Fedora 13 live CD on my Dell server, and configured networking and SSHd. On my desktop I logged into the live cd and started copying over a big file (1.5 GB) (i.e. copying from the desktop computer to the server). After copying about half the fil, the download fails with an error message about the filesystem being read-only.
I've seen this exact same behavior on both i386 and x86_64 of the same live CD, but don't know why it's happening. I've also had the same issue when copying small files. In /var/log/messages these messages are repeated many times:
Unable to boot ubuntu 12.04 from live CD
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 7, 2013
So I just created a live CD to partition and use Linux and put it in to boot but I keep getting this error
Error 0400 reading Sector 354294
It just repeats again and again Linux will not load
any thoughts fixes or ideas as to how to remedy this
Live USB 10.04 install. GRUB error
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: December 17, 2010
Okay I reinstalled 10.04.(finally) on a single partition mounted as "/". everything went fine until I rebooted, GRUB began loading and then came back with "no modules name found". I found other postings with the same problem,http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1343851 but this method doesn't work with the Dmraid. can anyone get me a "how to" or help me troubleshoot?
