Blackberry hardware with FirefoxOS/UbuntuOS
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: November 25, 2012
The only smartphone hardware that I like is the Blackberry with physical keypad. But I do not like the Blackberry-software. What I would really like to do is install the Ubuntu-OS or the Firefox-OS onto the Blackberry.
I assume this is not possible because Blackberry is so proprietary. On chance that I'm wrong, does anyone know if this will be possible in the future?
Blackberry mobile computing

I downloaded and application to my blackberry for mobile computing, but I am having a difficult time connecting to my desktop as the tech support personnel at RealVNC says I need to configure my network to accept incoming connection for authentication. The program work successfully the first two attempts, then failed afterwards. My host address is 126.96.36.199 and I provided my sign in password and there is a field stating direct TCP as the connection process. I have not intentionally changed any settings, but somehow they do not match the necessary parameters required by realvnc as they state to me to make sure the host address is correct as well as the host address is accessible through the network. I am awaiting them to give me their gateway address, as the one that was in my VPN connection field was for another program ( gate0.rdmplus.com, which is not theirs. I have desktop sharing enable for all incoming connections, but something is still not entered right. My teamviewer set u

I am trying to setup my Blackberry to use as a modem but running into an issue I could not figure out the solution for. I know I am close to get it to tethering but clueless as to what could be wrong. Can someone please point me in the right direction? It would be greatly appreciated.

No good PDF editor

I have been a new Ubuntu user for 2 days, absolutely love it, however, it may be of little use to me. I am painfully disappointed that there is not ONE good pdf available on ubuntu, that allows me to edit pdfs such as highlight. As a student, there is little I can do with Ubuntu without this basic function. Help, Somebody.

Best PDF editor for Ubuntu

I work with PDF files (Portable Document Format) very frequently. I guess many people like me does similar kind of work and when we work with multiple people and want to share the PDF files we need to annotate it. Write on the PDF as one can do in Adobe Acrobat in Windows. I was long in search of a similar application in Ubuntu. To my surprise, I found no similar tools mentioned in the forum posts. All they mention is the same junk pdfEDIT or something of that sort. I was feeling hopeless till my Boss introduced me to xournal. It is wonderful and you can play magic on PDFs with it. The package is in the repo. Just type,
sudo apt-get install xournal
and it's yours. You can scribble, use your pdf as a notebook, mark on it using pen in different inks, highlight, scratch and finally export again as pdf. What more can a researcher expect? I was benefited and hence thought of spreading the message. Explore and enjoy!!
