Installing KDE 4 on PPC
location: linuxquestions.com - date: January 12, 2008
I have a G4 iMac with Debian. I'd like to install KDE 4, but the Debian sources for KDE 4 (listed below) don't include a PPC version:
deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ experimental main non-free contrib
deb-src http://ftp.debian.org/debian/ experimental main non-free contrib
As a neophyte, I was wondering if I could use the deb-src repo to install KDE 4 from the sources that were used to make the i386 version. Is this possible, and if so, how? I have tried to following command:
sudo apt-get build-dep kde4

Unmet Dependencies Error While Installing KDE
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 19, 2013
I tried installing KDE Desktop through the terminal as instructed on this website. I was given the following error when I entered
sudo apt-get install kubuntu-desktop
"Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
kubuntu-desktop : Depends: xorg but it is not going to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages."
I wondered if the solution might be as simple as separately entering "sudo apt-get install xorg" but typing in the terminal when I don't know what something will do makes me antsy. Would someone with experience please tell me how to resolve this issue?

After installing KDE 4.4.5 on Debian Squeeze wireless will not connect
location: linuxquestions.com - date: October 3, 2011
I am running the latest Debian squeeze (stable) on an old HP Laptop with a Broadcom B4318 wireless card. I have the correct drivers and if I boot into my GNOME desktop environment the wireless card works just fine. However I like the KDE desktop better so I installed that and now if I boot into KDE my wireless network card will not connect to my wireless network.

Installing KDE via the DVD of Debian
location: linuxquestions.com - date: June 30, 2010
G'day all just wanted to know whether I can install KDE along side GNOME in Debian Lenny? The reason I ask is Gnome was installed by default and I didn't get an option to install KDE during the text based setup. So I put in the dvd and to see if there was an option to install kde, and it does Install with KDE Environment (to that affect).
Would it currently erase the current Debian installation with Gnome or will KDE install as a second desktop option to use?
Debian Live CD w/KDE for ppc by bittorrent?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: December 18, 2007
Does there exist a Debian live CD with KDE for PowerPC architecture -- available by bittorrent?
I'm downloading the iso (debian-live-4.0r0-rc1-powerpc-kde-CD) right now from live.debian.net. But it's awfully slow. My hope is that a torrent may be downloaded faster. But, does it exist?
