Intel Atom 330 Ubuntu 64bit or 32bit
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 25, 2009
Maybe this is a simple question. I installed Ubuntu 32bit on my new Intel Atom 330 based system. Works great. Then I read somewhere that Intel Atom 330 was 64bit prepared. What does this mean?
What should I run? 64bit or 32bit Ubuntu server?
Will there be any benefits (performance, stability etc etc)?

[SOLVED] Intel D201GLY2 : i386 vs amd64
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 3, 2008
Sorry for this nooooob question.
I'm ready to install Mythbuntu 8.04 on my Intel D201GLY2.
I believe this motherboard is able to do 64bits but this is Intel and definitely not AMD.
Which LiveCD should I start with ? The i386 or the amd64 ?
Again sorry if this is too naive for this forum.
Anyhow thanks for your time in advance,
AMD or Intel?

The time has come to buy a new desktop, and I think I may have found the smokin deal I have been waiting on. Preliminary research regarding hardware "Linux friendliness" seems good (knock on wood). In this time of indecision I turn to you, my fellow Ubuntu users, to help steer me in the right direction....
First, here are the specs of what I'm looking at.
My evil plans for it: Basic work and surfing along with some virtual machines to tinker with. I'll probably dual boot it with 7/Ubuntu or 7/RHEL. It's primary purpose will most likely be as a media server. I'm not a gamer (I have a 360/PS3 for that), so not too concerned with video performance other than the ability to run dual/triple monitors.
So, here is where you come in....
I tend to fall under the "I don't give a crap" philosophy of who is better, AMD or Intel. For me, it is all about speed vs cost. Anyone have any compelling arguments leaning one way or another?
How about brand? Any good arguments for o

Hi, I'm planning on buy a new laptop and I'm stuck, what's better for multitasking and gaming an i3 processor (dual-core) or an amd 2.4 Ghz (dual-core). Which one will be outdated earlier? Will ubuntu lucid lynx run on an i3 processor?
Who's more linuxfriendly, intel or AMD??

As I remember, there were some companies that stand beside Linux, while others stood against Linux.
I just wonder if AMD is more a 'friend' for Linux than Intel???
