[SOLVED] is there an equivalent of iotop for network traffic?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 27, 2013
There's some !"#/=??"#$%&/() process running on my machine that is sending traffic to TCP 631 from different ports all the time and I wanna know what process is doing it.... I'm wondering if there's something like iotop that could show per process network usage?
I saw iftop, nethogs and I couldn't find the process that was producing the traffic. Perhaps ntop could do the trick but seems like a little too much for what I want (so I didn't try to use it).
What's your take?

Is there an equivalent to Visual Studio or Visual Basic?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 25, 2013
I aplogize in advance if this has been asked before, but I did do a search and didn't find anything definitive.
As you might imagine, I have been doing Visual basic for years (Since version 1.0, actually) and now have Visual Studio 2012 .NET. Since I installed Ubuntu, I've wanted to create software for it also but simply haven't figured out how to: a) find a working IDE, b) get whatever I do compiled, c) figure out where to put it on my Ubuntu system so it will run.
So, is there an analogue to the 'drag & drop' IDE provided by Visual Studio in the LINUX world? I have used (and can use) C or c++ so that isn't a problem. I'm fully willing to learn any other language, but I'd prefer to stick with either VB (or the euqivalent) or C for programming.
Is there an equivalent of 'which' on the Windows command line?
location: linuxexchange.com - date: July 1, 2013
As I sometimes have path problems, where one of my own cmd scripts is hidden (shadowed) by another program (earlier on the path), I would like to be able to find the full path to a program on the Windows command line, given just its name.
Is there an equivalent to the UNIX command 'which'?
On UNIX, which command prints the full path of the given command to easily find and repair these shadowing problems.
What is Windows' equivalent of the “which” command in Unix? Is there an equivalent PowerShell command?

In Linux, we have the "which" command to find out the path of an executable.
What is its Windows equivalent? Is there any PowerShell command for doing that?

I am on a Windows 7 machine and I was instructed to use the Unix command "host" as per this article:
however, "host" is not a valid command with Windows and even with Git Bash on Windows it didn't like "host".

It's gotta be free. It's hobby, after all, not a business!. Creating for-profit software isn't an issue, but anything that requires a hardware mod is out.
