Kiosk Vlc / QuickTime plugin, firefox
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 15, 2010
I'm in the process of building a kiosk application that can run on Linux. At the moment it runs on ubuntu using firefox and HTML5 video.*
The video runs fine on my MacBook pro and a Windows core duo 2 ghz but is struggling slightly on a 1.6 atom with 1gb of ram.
I can only think of one other solution using MPEG, as the atom supports hardware decoding. At the moment the problem I am having with this solution is that I can't seem to find any Linux browser plugin that supports DOM events such As onEnd.*
Would be grateful if anyone had any ideas how to solve my problem!!
Manually installing BSContact plugin (FireFox)
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 19, 2010
I've downloaded the vrml-viewer BSContact and their site said it included both a standalone and a plugin.
Now, the installation went fine (as far as I can tell), and I can run BSContact standalone without a problem
But then the plugin part went wrong:
It didn't auto-install the plugin for sure, but I found a directory with plugins in /opt/BSContact (/firefox/plugins) that included BSContact.so and BSContact.xpt.
I went to /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins and copy-pasted BSContact.so in there.
I tested it at this point and it seem to show properly in aboutlugins, but when I went to an example-page (http://www.bitmanagement.de/php-bin/.../wrl/map01.wrl) it didn't show a blank page like it did before, but... it crashed.
So, then went to /usr/lib/firefox-3.6.9/components and copy-pasted BSContact.xpt. But, of course, it still crashed when I tried the example.
I really have no idea how to manually install a FireFox plugin (don't know if it's possible, haven't found too much on the to
[SOLVED]sudo flash player problem or firefox problem?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 16, 2011
I tried to install 10.10 32bit on my desktop, I wasn't able to finish the install, maybe because of the chipset/GPU, it gave me "white line" and the flashing the screen, finaly I was able to boot without graphics and reinstalled only the base repertories. Also firefox as root.
After I was able to boot in graphic mode and have a "normal ubuntu installation", in Gnome firefox was not starting. Later I figured up that was the root problem, because from terminal with sudo firefox worked.
I changed some rights rule and now this works.
But I still have problems with the flash plugin, I am not able to play any flash, aboutlugins in firefox said that: No plugins instaled, I tried to install flash from firefox bar aslo from Adobe website and nothing
I removed also the Gnash plugin and still not works.
I think the problem is because I installed firefox in root and now the plugins are in a different folder, but I don't know how to fix that...
EDIT: I am
Firefox problem loading page with internet connection.
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: December 17, 2012
This problem is very frustrating, everytime i'm the internet it occurs. I have no idea what is causing it and wasn't able find a solution to it here. I'm able to connect to the internet it's just every so often firefox stops working for 2-5 minutes and displays problem loading page error. My laptop says i still have a connection to the internet when this happens so i don't think it's that. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this or experience something similar? I'm sorry if i was supposed to post info but idk what that would be as i'm still generally new to linux. If so just tell me and i'll edit this.
[SOLVED] Mint 13/Cinnamon Java mouse pointer problem
location: linuxquestions.com - date: June 19, 2012
I'm using Mint 13 with Cinammon.
When I run a Java program the mouse pointer is in the wrong place - it is in a different place to where its action happens, and it doesn't work on pull-down menus, possibly for the same reason.
If I select Gnome3 at login it works perfectly.
Java plugin and runescape
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 16, 2004
Hi, I'm trying to play on the runescape game site but I needed the java plugin.
I downloaded and installed the plugin and created the link to the plugin folder
but still get the same message as before about needing plugin.
I installed plugin /usr/java/j2re1.4.2_04/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32
and created link ln -sf /usr/java/j2re1.4.2_04/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so
In the /usr/lib/mozilla-1.4.2/plugins directory there is a link to libjavaplugin_oji.so
any help appreciated.
