K3b Problem: Error 255
location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 28, 2004
Hey guys,
I'm trying to burn CD's with K3b (speed set to auto, other options set on their defaults) with my 40x speed Cyberdrive CW088D CD-R/RW (IDE), but when I try, it gives me this (after 6 seconds):
Code:
K3b gives error code 254
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: January 21, 2009
Since quite recently k3b has been giving problems.
I am running Intrepid. Today I wanted to burn an audio cd and, as usual, fired up k3b. The first problem I encountered was a permission problem. A google or two later, that was solved.
The second problem was this "code 254"error - "cdrecord returned an unknown error (code 254)" to be exact.
Several googles later, I am at the end of my tether. K3b worked fine until recently. I'm pretty sure that I was able to burn cd's without problems even after the upgrade to Intrepid. The problems started about two weeks ago (iirc).
Anyway, here's the debugging output from k3b:
Code:

k3b configure error
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: August 28, 2008
Googled it but no help there so i was wondering if anyone could help with fixing this error I get whilst trying to install k3b. I do ./configure and it throws this at me:
Code:
checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (>= Qt 3.2 and < 4.0) (headers and libraries) not found. Please check your installation!
For more details about this problem, look at the end of config.log
What can i do?
Cheers,

k3b write error fix or alternative?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 4, 2010
I've been struggling with burning DVDs for a couple of days.
K3b will get right to the end and then give a WRITE ERROR. The disc will look OK but the files are unreadable
gnome-toaster crashes all the time but when it does work the created discs are fine
brasero is a terrible piece of software - simply adding files from different directories is a major chore. The discs it makes do, however, work fine.
What might be causing K3b to fail like this every time?
Is there such thing as a stable version of gnome-baker?
Are there any other programs I might have missed which would do a job for me?

ok i am not one to panic but, K3B has gone daft on me!
it's taken it upon itself to inform me of the following:

K3B Output Error in Ubuntu12.04 Burning BluRay Disc
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 14, 2014
Hello to all & TY for opening my mind to Linux OS. I transferred my important things to external HDD & recently wiped XP Pro off of my self built PC & installed Ubuntu 12.04. I'm truly impressed with it & was able to install Time & Chaos 8 & transfer db's w/Wine.
My 1st question is, after trying to burn a 40GB Blu-ray disc w/K3B I received this error while writing was almost finished on DL BR disc, "Unable to Write @ LBA=f80220hutput error".
I had googled & searched for a solution unsuccessfully. I did make some adjustments under the advanced gui settings for cdrecord & such.
Anyone have a clue as what to do?
I'm familiar with the "terminal" but am a neophyte at writing anything to it & have only used it w/copy & paste info.
Thank you in advance ;-)

k3b OPC failure
location: linuxquestions.com - date: March 20, 2007
Hi,
i've been using k3b now for a few months, and i've never had problems. Today i started my computer and started k3b to burn some of my movies, and it gave me errors. Funny thing though, it will burn on DVD+RW but not on DVD-R or DVD+R.
Here's the debug message given by K3B:
Code:
k3b OPC (Optimum power calibration) problem
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 28, 2005
When I try to burn CDs (Data or ISO images), it starts normally, and acts fine until it comes to the OPC part. After a few seconds, it gives an I/O error which is 'not necessarily serious', and then it says 'OPC failed, probably the burner does not like the media'. However, I have burned the same blank CDs on the same computer and the same CD drive before.
Is there a way to turn off OPC or would I not want to. Or is it due to some other setting that I am unaware about, like burning speed?
Or is the problem unsolvable and I need to get new CD-Rs?
I have tried using Gnomebaker too, but the same thing happens.
please wait...
