Building a Linux CD Duplicator?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: January 11, 2008
Hey all, I'm getting myself an old PII Server from work. It's got 8 slots for drives, and I'm thinking about either "upgrading" my garage jukebox PC, or sticking a bunch of burners into it to make a CD duplicator. If I were to make a CD duplicator, how would I go about getting a piece of software, or even a script to make it burn CDs one after another?
Make custom bootable linux cd
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 8, 2011
i want to make a custom redhat bootable cd (RHEL5) which would contain a kickstart script for auto installation. Also there will be a shell script to copy files from the cd to harddisk at desired location.
Can anyone tell how to make
1. Custom bootable cd .
2. Where to place the kickstart script (ks.cfg) and the shell script on the cd.
3. How to boot using kickstart script.
4. How to invoke the shell script post installation.
Thanks in advance.

How to get a Puppy Linux CD that works?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 14, 2012
Total beginner, so please spell it out for me!!
I need to make a Puppy Linux CD. Downloaded the Slacko 5.3.1 ISO file using a Vista PC. Using same PC tried to burn to a CD using BurnCDCC app. Will not burn, just keeps asking for a blank CD, which as far as I know is what I am giving it. The checksum on the ISO file is OK.
Downloaded ISO using Vista?
Trying to burn using Vista machine?
Formatted the CD using a Vista machine?
Gave the CD a title?
Maybe should not have formatted the CD at all?
Bootable Linux CD or nonpartitioned install on old PentiumIII with 512mb ram
location: linuxquestions.com - date: November 6, 2008
First I want to say that this web site is a fantastic resource! It's a little overwhelming to a total newbie like myself, but thank you everyone for participating!
I have an old 533mhz Pentium III computer that primarily is used as a web machine or word processing when my other computers are in use. No other functions are critical on that machine. It has Windows 98 on it (with a few old programs that make me want to keep Win98 until I retire the computer completely).
It has been working flawlessly for about a decade, but somehow networking got screwed up and it has to be reset to recognize the internet every time it's turned on. Not a smooth user experience.
Before I ask questions, these are some things to know about me:
1) I'm not a "power user." Whatever that means, other than using electricity, I'm not it.
2) I hope to avoid command lines as much as possible.
3) I like an interface I can point and click on
4) I hope I can get up and runni
Buying Linux CD's through eBay???
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 12, 2008
I wanted to get some other Linux distros, but these only come on DVD. They are quite cheap on eBay, but does that mean that the seller has put some kind of malware/keylogger that will affect me?
I would download it, but that would take forever!
Is it same to buy Linux distro CD's on eBay?
i need a bootable linux cd to recover deleted windows files
location: linuxquestions.com - date: December 1, 2008
i have read the other forums about this, with no luck
what i need is to be able to download then burn a live cd
which i can then run on any ntfs hard drive to restore files that
have been deleted through the already installed windows..
so just to be clear i want to recover windows files that i have deleted in windows, by simply shutting down inserting a disk, then somehow recovering these files. rebooting then they should be back...
i have heard of this being done, but i cant find anything...
any input would be greatly appreciated thanks...
Make bootable linux CD with Windows/Nero (NOT buirning an image)
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 24, 2006
I need some (hopefully) simple help. I need to make a bootable CD from inside Windows, with Nero 5 - It's what I've got on hand.
I found lots of threads and pages about burning images, but nothing about making my own.
What I need this for: I'm making a customized Slackware installation CD. My machine has some special needs that the stock installer doesn't support.
I know to start Nero and select 'CD-ROM (boot)', but I'm kind of lost after that.
Help is appreciated.

Free Linux CD/DVD Burning Software

Can anyone recommend a good free software for linux that you can burn CD's and DVD's with?
a crack on LINUX CD distro
location: linuxquestions.com - date: July 22, 2006
I got this SUSE 10.o CD1 broken (a physical crack in the middle)-(maybe 1st 'cluster' of CD).
Somehow I managed to have it copied and it works, in other words it's completed (finished) on 1st install.
Seems illogical that a crack CD can be installed and works out fine.
What I want to know is how do I CRC check the distro CD?
Many thanks in advanced
