location: ubuntuforums.com - date: February 4, 2013
Hey all!
I am backing a project on Kick starter by Gas Powered Games called Wildman. The game is planned to be on Windows, Linux, and MacOSX. Currently as it stands Mac and Linux are Stretch goals.
Wildman is a Single player/Cooperative play Action RPG/RTS hybrid.
If you are not familiar with Gas powered games they have developed Dungeon Siege, Supreme Commander, Total Annihilation, and Demigod just to name a few.
Also there is a live stream @ http://www.twitch.tv/gaspoweredgames/new - That is offering allot of insight into the development process of Game development in general.
The Next Stream will start @ 12:00 PM PST on Monday the 4th of February. There will be a live Q&A with Chris Taylor the CEO of Gas Powered Games.
Ubuntu Pac Man USB Controller.
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 18, 2010
I really screwed up. My wife loves the Gnome games. A month or so ago I installed one that looked and played exactly like Pac Man from the 1980's. She immediately had trouble jamming the arrow keys so I found an older joystick controller that was able to be plugged into the usb port. My son wrote a patch that made it work. She then had trouble with the joystick handle. I was busy with real life things, but finally fabricated a guide that forced the handle to go in a diamond shape. I tried it temporarily and got it to work smoothly. I then removed the controller to fasten the guide down permanently. Last night I shut the machine down, plugged the controller in and rebooted. Imagine my horror when I found the entire game as well as the software patch my son cobbled together were gone.
I know it's a long shot but does anyone have any idea how to restore the game and possibly the usb controller? My son is now in India on a job and won't be back until February. In the mean time my wife is
So, what was in those big dots [pills?] in Pac Man anyways...?

I've been wondering this for decades.
What made Pac Man superior over the ghosts when he ate one of those?

Hi,
I have Magic Jack which is a plug and play in Windows. But when I plugged it into my Unbuntu machine, it does not install automatically. But I could see it in files and folders. When I double clicked the autorun.exe, I have:

magic quotes

Hi,
having just spent several hours driving myself nuts with mysql_real_escape_string can the DEV's PLEASE have magic_quotes_gpc default to 'off'.
I know it is due in php 5.3, but they've been telling us not use them for years !!!
The hosting server has them turned off - it's just my new lamp installation via tasksel on 10.04 that had them turned on, so it should be no big deal !!
Thanks,
Phill.
Wake on lan setup on Ubuntu without "magic packet"
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 6, 2013
Hi Everyone, this forum has provided me with very valuable information as always
but now i am stuck and can't seem to find what i need anywhere
i have a Ubuntu server 12, it's setup as a SAMBA server, it stores data files and images
so far so good, i need the server to sleep when it's not being used
when no users are accessing any files for about an hour, i need it to sleep/suspend to save power
my problem is that all the instructions about wake on lan require the use of the "magic Packet"
i need the server to come back from sleep after a user tries to access a file on the SAMBA server
is that possible? i do that on Windows servers all the time, so i hope i can do the same here
Wake On Lan Magic Packet Can Ubuntu see it?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 13, 2012
Hi
I've searched alot for this and can't seem to gather any information, I use a remote for my Ubuntu HTPC that can wake the computer but when the media centre crashes the remote functions all stop working and I need to ssh in to restart the Front End.
My question is does anyone know if Ubuntu can see the Magic Packet if it is sent whilst the computer is on? Would love to make a script that could restart the Front End on receiving that Event.
Thank you
quakes
WOL Send Magic Packet

Dear Linux God’s!
As i am posting in this forum you might already have guessed that I am a total linux noob, but I am a pretty faster learner. I know a few basic things but I feel like I am stuck with my problem.
I want to send the Magic packet (wake on LAN) from my linux machine to another, but I am unsure how to approach this. I have google’ed my ass off but I am none the wiser. I found a few forums posts and programs that can do the trick and guides in how to use the programs but I have no idea how to install them.
You have to know that my linux machine is a NAS server and has therefore only Konsole access (no GUI). As I said before I am pretty much a noob at this so I am glad for any help you guys can give me
Here are two links that I have been looking at.

Thank you for your time and help!
Installing Magic Jack on Ubuntu 9.10.
location: linuxquestions.com - date: December 30, 2009
Hi, before anyone answers this I want to say that I am a REAL NEWBIE. In other words, I was reading some of the forums and someone would say to go to something and I am lost from the beginning. I have just Found the Synaptic Manager, the software sources, and the Ubuntu Software Center. But I still do not quite under stand which one I will find what in. I am also trying to understand the Terminal. So that is how New I am. So Problem is that I had been running windows XP and I switched to UBUNTU. I had recently purchased Magic Jack Just Before I switched and now I haven't been able to get my magic jack to work with my UBUNTU 9.10 OS. I have gotten as far as getting it installed by downloading wine and installing it through that. I now get a dial tone but still am unable to dial out from the phone it self or from the desktop. I am wondering what I am missing here. Does anyone have any answers???? I also have a lot of other questions but I am sure I need to take them one at a time. Thanks
man broken in 8.04 hardy heron
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 12, 2008
if I run man, i get this error:
~ $ man ssh
pager: error while loading shared libraries: libxfcegui4.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
man: command exited with status 32512: pager -s
I am not sure why pager relies on libxfcegui4. I have libxfcegui4.so.4 in /usr/lib/, so it may be a version problem.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
please wait...
