Downloading online games
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 12, 2013
Hi, since there aren't much great games for Linux (please, don't write me, that they are plenty of them.. It is just my opinion) I decided that online games is a great alternative.
So, I am asking:
A) What is the best online website for downloading online games?
B) What is the best program to run those games?

As Oly proposed, there is the nice possibility of making Ubuntu-Linux-'guilds' in some games.
Ubuntu-Linux Meetings are also a nice idea.

online games for linux
location: linuxquestions.com - date: September 28, 2013
I have a recent Linux convert who is finding it difficult finding online games. He likes war games. I don't play games online (except the occasional chess game) so I don't know of any like this. Anybody want to point us in the right direction? He just spent 3 hours looking and is about ready to have me install Windows for him. Thanks ahead of time.
What is it with Linux haters in online games?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: July 28, 2006
I play Quake 4 online maybe a couple of times a week. I change my player name occasionally, but often use a player name that references Linux somehow. In the last week, I've had three different situations while playing that were strange. Each time, I was just having fun, minding my own business, and playing Quake DM, when out of nowhere someone says "I hate Linux people" after noticing my in-game name. I ask why they hate Linux users, and they usually just respond with 12 year-old sounding insults. This happened on three different servers within the last several days. What gives? One person tonight just kept saying "Go back to Windows idiot" and stuff like that.
Of course I just laugh and go on, caring less what someone on a video game server who doesn't know me thinks about me, but I just find it strange that some Windows users have this attitude. I can only wonder if they know someone who uses Linux who is a jerk, or of some of these people just have inferiorit

Free Online Games to Play with Family?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: October 30, 2010
Hey everyone, I am trying to find a way to play games with my family out of state in real time. I am already using skype, but would like to find another way besides the skype games because of three reasons:
1. They cost money.
2. They won't run on linux (linux skype doesn't support those features)
3. There are not that many games to choose from.
I suppose I could run the games on Windows, as I do dual boot, but that is kind of inconvenient for me. (I know I'm running XP right now, but that's because I don't have gentoo up yet) I guess I could pay money if I had to as well, but I really would like to avoid it.
