Pwede ba yun, at paano gawin yun?

online games programming....
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 16, 2007
Hi, I want to make a web game well I decided to make a game that you would have to download the files from my website and install it on the user's computer, but the whole game is online, like their is no other option to play just online.
I already know c++ and some python, I know the basic elements of programming like what functions do ect basic stuff.
I am advance in C++, meaning I mostly know that lang then any other.
well I still can't decided to either have it installed on the user's computer or have it on my server, so they don't need to install it.
but the thing is that my server's memory is no that great to handle it.
is python better to make games with?? this game is going to just be a network game.
Problems with Java and displaying online games/videos with Firefox 3.0 on Ubuntu 8.04
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 8, 2008
Greetings Ubuntu community.
I used to play pool at games.yahoo.com as a favoured pass time. However, since the upgrade to Ubuntu 8.04, and the upgrade to Firefox 3.0, I've found this to be quite impossible. In my internet preferences Java is enabled, but when I open pool at games.yahoo.com, or any other game from any other website requiring Java, it tells me to install the missing plugin, but when I attempt to do so no pertinent plugins are ever available. I've followed various directions I've picked up from different posts and individuals to install this or build that, but nothing has worked for me. My basic flash player seems to work halfway fine. I can watch youtube videos, but only as long as the video is kept in normal size. The moment I switch to fullscreen view the refresh rate on the frame becomes rather crappy. Otherwise, fullscreen works fine with my regular media player. It's just that fullscreen when playing online video sources, such as youtube, become screwy.

Yahoo online games problem through Squid
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 2, 2005
I have installed Mandrake 10.1 Linux on my Server with the Squid for the Proxy Server. My squid configuration file is as follows. The ip address of the proxy server is 192.168.200.1:8080. The browsing is working very fine. But, the problem is , the clients are not able to play yahoo online games like Chess or so. I have found that it is the port 11999 being used by yahoo for the online games. I have tried many otions but in vain. Can anybody give me the exact solution in then existing environment so that I can come out of this problem. The game being run is the Chess. When the yahoo server starts loading the applet then, the message as below is displayed.
Could not connect to the remote server either
1. You are behind a Firewall
2. You are not connected to the internet
4 You have a stale in your cache
Thanx in advance

From curiosity I want to know how do the online games (like zynga poker or pool toor live) communicate between 2 users...
Do the apps keep pinging the server to check the other player's move or the server sends the browser some dynamic info...
Share your Favorite Online Games!
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: November 10, 2006
I was just thinking, there are a lot of great online games too. and Why don't we share our favorites and try out some new ones?
My personal top favorite currently is:
Basically, you get to build a nation (based on Google maps), and develop it each day. There is inter nation trading, wars, peace, nuclear power/weapons, and tons other nifty aspects to the game such as nationality, religion, and government type. Another great feature is the anti cheating system which attempts to keep people from making more than one nation and trading with themselves.
TIP: If this sounds like fun (and even if it doesn't give it a shot before you discredit it) and start playing, defiantly read through the forums. You will learn the game a lot fast than through trial an error.
Be sure to check it out and share others!

For short: can you tell me some great resource to study if I want to develop online games using flash technology? Including 3D games.
