COREL Linux text mode install??
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 1, 2001
I have free copy of COREL linux that installed fine on PC with PCI Video card. But upgraded the system (disks and everything) and COREL does not like the AGP NVIDIA card at all.. goes into a totally unreadable screen during the install. is there a way to install this distribution in a 'text' only mode? (ie: some command line options etc..??)

Repeated this several times and got same thing. So, went out and bought a boxed version. Same thing! What gives?? Someone please help me. Oh yes, i did shut off my boot up virus protector as once it said I had a boot virus. Please any help. Oh this is a pentium 111 processor 550 with 384 mb of ram. Please anyone have any clues?

I'm trying to make the jump from Win98 to a GNU/Linux system. I've tried to install Debian, but I keep getting corrupt images, etc, so I've pretty much given it up. I decided to install Corel Linux (using the 'For Dummies' book). I'm pretty sure that I've got it installed properly, but I have some pretty serious display issues. There's some pretty serious sideways screen flicker for starters. Secondly, Most text in the desktop shows up as solid black boxes, making it nearly impossible to get anything meaningful done. When I go into VGA mode, the screen flicker goes away and I can read text, but keyboard input is useless and does nothing. Any adjustments I make are applied, but don't seem to make a difference in any other modes.
I'm running this on a stock HP 6330 if that's any help.
Where can I find Corel Linux?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 24, 2005
I have recently tried installing an old copy of Corel Linux that I got on a magazine cover CD. Unfortunately, it crashes during setup.
I have been searching the net for the Second Edition of this OS, but all I have found is dead links to FTP sites.
Does anyone know where I can download Corel Linux Second Edition (v1.2).
Any help is much appreciated!

I want to load my COREL LINUX OS, Installation CD, but all that happens is I get the first screen indicating the system and files are loading, but I don't see the processor light flickering indicating the system is loading. Openbox Theme such as Corel Linux (old KDE)?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: June 21, 2013
I have been search on various "Look" / Looking themes for Openbox, to have a theme that looks like the old good KDE.
I could not find any. It is very possible to make it exactly similar, but it might very likely exist.
KDE theme is old, ... inspiring. Have you heard maybe of any ?

I am trying to find a good distro for a dell inspiron 3000. I have installed Suse 9.0, Redhat 7.0, Redhat 7.2, And Redhat 9, On this particular laptop. None of which run Fast enough to call it reasonable. They all run VERY VERY SLOW. weather it is bringing up a nautalis window or waiting 4 minutes for Mozilla to come up. The Dell has a Pentium 233, 96 meg of ram and a 4 gig hard drive. I did at one time load up Corel linux second edition and it ran very fast. And it is Debian based. From what i have read. Does that mean i can use APT-GET to do updates using Debian repository's?? I have not seen a corel repositpory. And has anyone got any idea how to get wireless LAN cards working with it? I was trying to get a linksys wpc11 working for hours with no luck. I haven't even found anything saying that corel second edition supports wireless cards. any help would be great or if you can just point me in a direction.
Trouble installing Corel Linux
location: linuxquestions.com - date: September 23, 2006
Well i´ve just bought a copy of Corel Linux, and now i ofcourse want to install it. But here is the thing, when i try to boot from my cd the installation starts as it is supposed to, but at some point the installaion wants to load "graphical interface" and instead of doing so my cd tray just opens causing my labtop to restart in windows mode...
Anybody had the same problem? or does anybody have an idea as to what i might do to solve it?
