What i do see is ubuntu and it's for the netbook, because i tried to uninstall the desktop version by installing the netbook version.

Major problems with Ubuntu after upgrade
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 16, 2011
A few days ago I upgraded from Ubuntu 10.something to ubuntu 11.something. I did it because at that point I got a message saying an update was ready. So I clicked ok. At first I got a few glitches but I got everything to work.
But occasionally I had a problem after boot. Linux would boot up and the purple ubuntu startup screen would come up. But then it would switch back to text with no real error visible. I could then switch to other text consoles and there manually type /sbin/shutdown -r now to try again. And then it usually worked.
But today I got no such luck. It fails every time to boot up correctly. I get the ubuntu startup screen and it ends up with a text console full of messages. The weird thing is that these messages are always different. Most of the time they all end with [Ok]. Sometimes there is a [Fail].
I can always switch to a text console but I don't know what to do there to correct the situation. At this moment I'm booted into windows but I'd love to go back t

exFAT problems with Ubuntu 12.10
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: November 8, 2012
Yes,
I am having issues getting Ubuntu to see my external hard disk.
The external hard disk is a 250 Gb SATA drive formatted with exFAT and is connected to my linux computer via eSATA cable. My setup worked with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS but not with this version...
There is an icon in my computer's filesystem for a 250 Gb hard disk that I can't access or unmount.
I've tried everything to get it to work properly with no success.

Keyboard/mouse problems with Ubuntu
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 15, 2013
This is pretty baffling since I've been using Ubuntu 12.10 perfectly for the past month.
In the past 2 days, after getting past the BIOS and GRUB screen (where my keyboard works as evidenced by the light up of my caps lock button) to the Ubuntu login page, my touchpad and keyboard for my laptop has about 9/10 chance of not working. (If I restart it enough times it'll eventually work).
I even reinstalled Ubuntu and that didn't fix it. Then I tried installing ArchLinux and I had the same problems.
Strangely, Windows works perfectly for me...
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
Edit: The laptop is a Lenovo U410 Ultrabook.
Long string of problems with Ubuntu 13.10 first time user.
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 21, 2013
Background: This laptop is called Acer Aspire V5-572G and it has a dual graphic switching between Intel and Nvidia 720M. This laptop runs on Windows 8 with EFI and I have disabled secureboot.
What I did:
Booted into Windows 8, then booted into UEFI to disable secureboot.
Booted back into windows 8 then booted into USB stick containing Ubuntu 13.10.
Selected option for installing. It just goes into blank screen with no LCD backlight.
Searched for this problem, found a solution - to use nomodeset option when booting. It worked.
Installed Ubuntu on 100GB partition.
It asks me to restart it. K I'll do it. The laptop just boots into windows 8 directly without option of Ubuntu.
I boot into Ubuntu (GRUB menu isn't it?), but nomodeset doesn't work this time. It just shows a blank screen with no LCD backlight It just boots into command line version of Ubuntu without GUI. I tried startx, it threw up an error saying it cannot find the screen and its fatal error.
Again, searched for solu
Problems with Ubuntu 11.04 on Asus Eee PC 1005HA

Hi everyone, i've just upgraded my Lucid to Natty, and i ran into some problems.
First of all, touchpad enable/disable buttons are not working.
I've got acpi_osi=Linux and acpi_backlight=vendor added to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT in my /etc/grub/default, but that doesn't help.
I've also written a simple script, that enables/disables touchpad, and added it to /etc/acpi/events/asus-touchpad:
Code:
#!/bin/bash
#
# list of synaptics device properties http://www.x.org/archive/X11R7.5/doc/man/man4/synaptics.4.html#sect4
# list current synaptics device properties: xinput list-props '"SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad"'
#
if xinput list-props "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" | grep "Device Enabled" | grep 0
then
xinput set-int-prop "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" "Device Enabled" 8 1
else
xinput set-int-prop "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" "Device Enabled" 8 0
fi
exit
Code:
# /etc/acpi/events/asus-touchpad
# This is called
