Kubuntu 14.04 Alpha, To upgrade or not?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: February 13, 2014
Hi, I am posting after sometime, so If i post in the wrong place, will be glad if that mistake is corrected.
I had downloaded Kubuntu 14.04 Alpha, 05-02-2014 iso and installed. Everything worked fine out of the box.
In fact, thanks to 3.13 kernel, since 12.04 this is the first time I did not have to use 'nomodeset' for a live session
But Monday, On opening Muon Discover I found 'updates' for installed apps which I did and borked my system. Partial update or not, it was not clearly mentioned.
Now today I am having a notification : 'A newer version of Kubuntu is available'. The screenshot of the authorisation box opened is attached.
My question, Is this a 'partial-update' or can I go for it safely ?snapshot2.png
Kubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr Alpha1
location: linuxquestions.com - date: January 3, 2014
I don't see many people talking about Kubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr, or many at all talking about Kubuntu and KDE desktop.
I have been amazed with it's functionality and support for older hardware.
I have a Viewsonic Viewpad 10pi and it works perfect on.
I've disabled onboard sound and wifi, use a Buffalo USB wifi adapter, and bluetooth speaker and keyboard and it's perfect.
Is anyone enjoying this distro?

kubuntu 7.04 upgrade
location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 18, 2007
We all have done crazy things at one time or another,so heres mine..
First I had a perfectly sweet running 6.10 and after a number of super fast patches installed, a window popped up and stated that there was a newer version available and would I like to upgrade?...Well like a dummy I did the fatal mouse click and about an hour and a half of downloading files and then installing the downloaded files another message popped up that there seemed to be a BUG and would I like to terminate the install or continue..I tried to go on but it just sat there lifeless...Ok another window offered the same choices, terminate the install or continue..This Time I selected terminate..Yes you guessed it, the computer failed to reboot again and again..Once It had the Logo of 7.04 but still did not boot..Next time it showed the 6.10 logo but again stalled and even did a fsck check with about fifty errors..I leave you readers to decide the moral of the story..
I have just installed 7.04 from a fresh

Kubuntu 14.04 ipod touch 5th gen not seen in Banshee, Amarok or Rhythmbox
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 6, 2014
I have a quite new install of Kubuntu 14.04 and an ipod touch 5th gen. I have updated the IOS on the ipod to IOS 7.
When I connect the ipod I get a prompt to open it to view the pictures or files. It does not show up in any music application.
Does anyone have any suggestions please? I was under the impression it was supported "out of the box" in 14.04 which is why I updated the ipod to IOS7.
I haven't installed anything ipod related so I have a nice clean system. What makes it worse is it's my wifes laptop/ipod and I assured her it would work.
She's happy Netflix is working. Now I just need the ipod syncing to get me some browny points and hopefully an appreciative wife
Installing and downloading Kubuntu 14.04 LTS
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 29, 2014
I installed Kubuntu on my XP laptop. It took about 20 minutes. I wanted it to erase Windows but of course it didn't. How do I find the so-called ISO file? I looked in Bios, but it's not there. I did a 'search' of ISO files but it's not among those. How can I find it? Thanks for any help to a beginner.
