How to get Return to Castle Wolfenstein to run in Kubuntu 10.04.
location: linuxquestions.com - date: July 2, 2010
I just bought RtCW with Steam and I want to play it in Ubuntu. So I installed the binaries and copied all the pk3 files, but the wolfsp and wolfmp gave the following errors: Wolf Errors
I first installed: wolf-linux-1.41b.x86.run to ~/.wolfenstein and shortcuts to ~. After that I copied (pak0.pk3, sp_pak1.pk3, mp_pak0.pk3) files from Windows 7 wolf install to ~/.wolfenstein/main directory.
This library: libstdc++-libc6.2-2.so.3 does not exist in Kubuntu repositories.
And I couldn't find solutions to my problems.
Running WoW on Ubuntu 10.04, problems with wine or system requirements
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 8, 2012
As noted I've been attempting to successfully run W.O.W. on my laptop, on which Ubuntu 10.04 is installed. During the installation, I received the message...
"Your computer fails to meet the minimum system requirements. Insufficient CPU Speed (Learn More) [Install Anyway] [Exit Installer]"
The friend who was currently egging me to Install WOW said to disregard the message, on the basis that they had, and run into no problems, and so I did. Later on when actually loading the WoW launcher, I ran into this fun little message...
"[Title : Program Error] The program Launcher.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. This can be caused by a problem in the program or a deficiency in Wine. You may want to check http://appdb.winehq.org for tips about running this application. If this problem is not present under Windows and not has been reported yet you can report it at http://bugs.winehq.org [Close]"

12.04 server minimum system requirements ATA disk issue
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 15, 2012
About 8 times over this cycle, I have installed various versions of 12.04 server edition on a pathetic old test computer.
In addition to the regular testiing, the purpose is to verify minimum system specifications as listed in the server guide and on this web page.
This last time was with the i386 server ISO of 2012.04.12. Everything was fine, or so I thought.
This morning I noticed some odd messages on my terminal and in kern.log.
After some thought, I deduced that the messages came during the automated execution of that so very cpu and disk intensive program update-apt-xapian-index.
I confirmed via a test run of the program.
I do not recall ever seeing these messages before, but conceivably I might have missed them recently. I know for sure they were not there for most of this cycle. I went back to the ISO of 2012.03.27, which was the most recent previous CD I have.
It was fine, and does not show these messages during the long burden of update-apt--xapian-index.
To be clear: I do

Hello all, just found this site and it looks great!
I need to know what the Kubuntu/Ubuntu system requirements are because i want to try it out.
I just got a second hand computer and has the following RAM and cpu speed:
Pentium III 939 mhz, 256 MB RAM (SDRAM)(plus 128), 1024x768 minimum screen res with a ATI 128 MB video card.
Could these specs allow kubuntu or ubuntu to run smooth?

Both have 20gb hard drive space.
And like 328mb of ram i believe?
One has 9.10 on it.
It works okay I guess.
Alot better than windows xp did.
Think I could upgrade?
How to install Adobe flashplayer on Kubuntu 9.04

I want to install Adobe flash player on my Kubuntu 9.04, but I can't find it inthe repositories.
So I tried to download and install the .deb file (it is indicated for Ubuntu 8.04+ on Adobe site). Using Gdebi I get the message that the plugin gets installed, but then in Mozilla Firefox nothing happens.
What am I getting wrong?
