Reminder app for gnome?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: October 1, 2012
Is there a decent reminder app for gnome, where I can set multiple reminders that repeat in certain days of the week, or in certain dates in every month?
I'm looking for something which has a GUI.
TIA
Searching for small reminder app
location: linuxquestions.com - date: September 30, 2008
Hi all,
I have a very minimalist KDE install with as few apps and suites as possible and would like to keep it that way. I know about kalarm but it seems to want kdepim and/or kontact. I don't want those apps on my machine.
What I want is a small reminder app that will tell me it is time to take my pills. I do not want a huge suite of programs for this one tiny function. Does anyone know of such an app?
Thanks,
Rick.
For anyone looking... I am now using remind by Roaring Penguin with the tkremind GUI.

Looking for a Reminder/Timer App...
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: December 1, 2008
I'm looking for a simple app that I can type in a reminder note, set the time and have it popup and make a system sound "On Top of" any full screen application I have open... I want to use it for timing things I have in the Oven etc...
I've tried Kalarm, GNUWash & TKRemind and Kalarm seems to be the best but it doesn't popup on the top of any app I happen to be running when it goes off and the "Beep" doesn't go off...
Any ideas guys???
Thanks,
Keith

Apple app store or app store apps on ubuntu?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 28, 2012
I've been looking for this over the past week and I haven't found a single good thread on this topic. I've recently migrated from Windows 7 to Ubuntu and have found that wine is working pretty great in order to launch older windows games etc...
What I haven't figured out is that if it's possible to launch apps that I've downloaded from Apple App store (for example for iPad) on Ubuntu Linux? Let's say I have bought a book from Apple App Store for iPad and I want to launch it on my laptop which is running Ubuntu Linux; Is it possible at this point to view the same book from my laptop at all?
I know there's a project called iEmu but it seems to be at quite early stages..
This is purely curiosity on the subject what linux currently can and can not do!
So, how is it? Possible right now? Doable in the future? I'd be interested to read some answers on this topic!
I'm also extremely interested in other crossplatform projects... For example running Android phone apps via emulator on a Lin
[SOLVED] java and "app inventor" vs. Linux Mint12 (Ubuntu 11.10)
location: linuxquestions.com - date: September 10, 2012
Neither "java" nor "app inventor" are specific to any distro or even linux. Regardless, I cannot get "java" running in ways that satisfy the "app inventor" pages.
Can anyone help me sort this out?
I'm running Linux Mint-12 (Ubuntu 11.10) and have all of the various java packages installed. I'm trying to use the Chromium browser with MIT's "App Inventor" tools for building Android apps. I need something really trivial on my 'droid, and App Inventor seems a light weight approach to doing a prototype.
Thanks in advance,

Ubuntu One app for Windows stopped working.
location: linux.com - date: December 28, 2011
I run a Kubuntu Windows 7 Dual boot system, Ubuntu one on windows is great I keep all my homework and other important files on it. It works great for me as a cross platform cloud storage solution, I really enjoy it. I also keep all my programming code in it for later reference.
So last night I opened ubuntu one on windows 7 and got a notice about there being a update, so I updated to Ubuntu One 2.0.2 from 2.0.1 and the whole thing stopped working.
Since then I have re-installed ubuntu 2.0.2 and 2.0.1 multiple times with no luck of getting it back. I also disabled my firewall to avoid that being the issue.
Anyone having this problem with ubuntu one, or a solution to it? Let me know.
App fonts too big in Ubuntu
location: linux.com - date: May 24, 2009
I've noticed that some applications I run have huge fonts. I can fix this temporarily by selecting Appearance from the Gnome menus, and changing the DPI for fonts down by 1, then back up by 1 then re-applying, but next time I boot up they're big again.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks
Thom
