USB tethering LG Optimus L3 II
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 14, 2014
In an emergency, I purchased an LG Optimus L3 II, but it refuses to make a tethered USB connection - my old HTC tethers flawlessly. Google provides nonsense solutions (e.g. use wireless or bluetooth). Wireless is working almost acceptably, but cannot be relied on for downloads as the connection is not stable. Trusty identifies it as a lg-e435f - which I don't think is the same model. To make it worse, I am in Australia, where stuff gets randomly repackaged, so it makes it even harder to identify. The USB tether seems to connect OK, but then instantly disconnects.
Not sure where to attack this from - does the phone need a widget or does Ubuntu?

Please excuse my asking in this forum. The most appropriate forum on Androidquestions.org is having a problem where it is not displaying new posts. Or at least not mine.
I am having trouble connecting my LG LU2400 phone and getting it recognized by the Android Development Bridge.

[SOLVED] How to run Guitar Pro 6 on 64bit on a system with NVIDIA Optimus
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 7, 2012
I have Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64-bit on both my laptop and my desktop.
I managed to install Guitar Pro 6 on my desktop by using 32-bit dependencies, following the instructions here to install:
I followed the exact same methods on my laptop, but Guitar Pro 6 won't run. I have tried the official demo from the website, which didn't work either.
When downgrading my libraries to 32-bit for Guitar Pro 6 install, at some point in the terminal it had an issue with LibGL, saying it was installed by the video driver.
I suspect this may be the cause of the problem, since after Googling for hours, the only issues were with libportaudio, which I downgraded successfully.
So, is there a way to downgrade LibGL to 32-bit, since it is installed with the video driver? Would this stop my display working, or is it impossible?
I also tried installing the Windows version under Wine and PlayOnLinux, neither of which worked. Guitar Pro 6 installs successfully, but then nothing happe
Triple boot help with latest Ubuntu distro on Apple Mac book Pro with Bootcamp.
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 30, 2011
I am using Bootcamp with a dual boot function with Mac OSX Snow Leopard and Windows 7. I now want to introduce a 30gb partition for the latest Ubuntu Distro.
I really want to be careful to ensure I dont break anything as it works perfectly at the moment. I have used Rfix and Bootpicker to manage the dual boot processes as well as using the option key in Bootcamp to boot into each OS.
Does anyone have any advice how I could create a new partiton for me to use for Linux. I want to make a 30gb partion.
Any step by step instructions would be fantastic. I really want to improve my Linux skills and want to run it natively rather than thru a virtual machine using VMware or Parallels.

location: linux.com - date: October 6, 2010
Hi, I recently bought a macbook pro 13.3 inch.
and I installed ubuntu 10.10 RC on it.
By following wiki guide:
Almost works fine.
But despite add "options snd-hda-intel model=mbp55" or not, there is no sound
I've checked alsa-mixer that "PCM" and "MASTER" are not mute.
Does someone has the same problem? or any suggestion?

Most stable distro for my macbook pro
location: linux.com - date: April 16, 2013
I just downloaded ubuntu 12.04. But im tempted to try cent os. And also would like to get some feed back on debian. I know its very stable, but i also know that with this stability you give up a good bit of bleeding egde.
Also considering using arch linux or gentoo again, but; im not sure if itll be worth my time. Do you guys think that gentoo's optimizations would help performance and stability if i maintain it correctly
My linux Mint just failed. So im looking for something a bit more stable. The start up time isnt a huge deal. But once it's up i dont want it to go anywhere
