LibreOffice bug needs confirmation
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 4, 2014
After upgrading from LibreOffice version 4.2.0 to version 4.2.1 I'm getting on every start of writer or calc the following error:
The application cannot be started.
Extension Manager: exception in synchronize
The upstream version 4.2.1 is working fine. I have already opened a bug report for this issue (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...e/+bug/1286102) but currently this bug would be another major breakage for me on Ubuntu 14.04. Has somebody else this issue too?
12.04 LibreOffice Impress bug: insert comments causes silent quit
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 3, 2012
Vasa1 has posted a bug against LibreOffice 220.127.116.11 Build ID: 350m1(Build:202) as packaged for 12.04, see
Load LibreOffice Impress, start a new presentation, make a new slide, and try to insert a comment on the slide (Insert -> Comment or the keyboard shortcut)
For some of us, Impress quits silently. For some of us, it works as expected.
Reply to this or to the LibreOffice bug thread if you can see that behaviour.
EDIT: two out of three confirmed cases using GB language options, would like to know if US or other locales give this error

Niggling LibreOffice highlighting "bug"... help please?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: January 3, 2012
I'm a student and i do a lot of highlighting documents in libreoffice. When i was on Office for Mac a while a go (on a Mac), it did not do what LibreOffice does now and which i find extremely annoying: everytime you have the little highlight pen activated, if you accidentally do a single click anywhere, it deactivates itself automatically.
With a trackpad (especially mine which is not particularly good, no longer the mac) this is a real pain. (M$ Office for mac didn't do that, which is why i used it when i had the chance).
Any help please??

libreoffice macro security bug
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 9, 2011
this is my first post here, so please be forgiving...
I recently switched from 10.04 to 11.04, including a switch from OO to Libreoffice. In OO, I was using an external macro to convert calc to qif files for import in moneydance or gnucash. In LO, I can no longer choose macro security level and therefore cannot use my vital macro. The tools-options-security-macrosecurity button freezes and LO crashes. This seems to be a known bug:
Well, I have the problem under LO 3.3.4 and 3.4.3 OOO340m1 (Build:302) (came via PPA today). I am using normal Java 1.6.0_26 and other JAVA stuff works fine as far as I know. In the above threads someone mentions an option --disable mozilla that should be left out. I have absolutely no clue what that means. I would rather not fiddle with any LO-registration files, but if that is the only way, I would need more detailed instructions on how to do that.
Does anyone else have this bug with Unity and LibreOffice?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: July 17, 2012
I wasn't quite sure in which section of the forum to post this. It's partly a help request, partly a rant, partly a curiosity to see how many people are affected. The bug seems to have appeared several days ago, most probably after the latest update (no ppas, no nothing, just a vanilla Ubuntu 12.04). It goes like this: I start a new Ubuntu session, and fire up Writer and some other programs (Firefox, Nautilus, Empathy, etc.). Everything goes fine until at some point the Writer's window can no longer be seen in the switcher, and in the dash the left triangle next to the Writer's icon disappears while the right triangle (which is supposed to indicate focus) remains constantly next to the Writer's icon despite the focus being on a different window.
So, Writer becomes very difficult to use: once you switch from Writer to a different window, you are lost. You can, of course, start minimizing all the windows that block the Writer's window or you can use Super+W, but Alt+Tab or clicking the
LibreOffice Page Number Bug?
location: linuxexchange.com - date: January 1, 1970
I am trying to insert page numbers for a document written with LibreOffice. Everything works just fine until I add an offset (so that the counting starts from 7). I add the offset of 6. Works fine, except that the last 6 pages do not have the number shown (even though the footer field is there).
This is important for me. Please let me know what I can do
mysql to libreoffice calc pivot table bug?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 21, 2014
I have an uptodate debian stable installation. I have a mysql database containing a single table. This table has a few cols, like date, total (non-null) and also some others.
I opened libreoffice calc, created a pivot table using odbc to connect to that mysql database and retrieve those data from my table. Only those two columns were taken (I wanted to draw a chart), but some values were missing (= there were a few empty cells in the column A). I have modified the pivot table using other data but the fist col contained some empty cells again.
Do you know is this a bug or am I missed something?
Finally I imported a third column too, that was not used in my graph.
Libreoffice writer strange layout bug
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: December 22, 2014
I'm writing because I'm encountering an odd problem I'd never had before. I'm running libreoffice writer 18.104.22.168 build 2 with the default installation that came with my Kubuntu 14.04. The layout is completely off, both in new documents and opened documents: One page is in portrait, as is should be, while the next one is in landscape with two columns and the following in portrait again.
Here's what it looks like:
I'd never encountered anything quite like this before, so I'm not sure how to address it. I've googled the issue, but for layout problems[I], all the hits I'm getting are for MS Word compatibility issues, nothing like this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
