LibreOffice Impress freezes system when saving as PDF
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 3, 2011
I've been using LibreOffice, and I noticed that when I try to save some presentation as PDF it freezes everything. There's no way but to manually reset the machine. The pdf conversion worked for a very very simple presentation, but once it got a bit bigger (nothing huge, just 20 slides with pictures and no animations), it just won't work.
has anyone seen this before?
LibreOffice When saving as unicode file size has doubled
location: linuxexchange.com - date: August 3, 2015
I have an Excel-sheet with greeks letters which I have to export as csv-file and to import into a MariaDB/MySQL. Since Excel does not allows to change encoding I opened the xlsx-File with LibreOffice Calc und saved file as csv with unicode(utf8). But this does not work and greek letters are garbled (see figure)..
If I save it as unicode at the first sight it seems OK (greek letters) but if I import it into a MariaDB the letters seems separated with a space. Indeed, if I look at the hexadecimal code there is a 00 (NUL) between each letter. The csv-file has double the size than the former one.
Does someone know how to solve this problem? Thanks for any hint.
By the way: if I save the file with Excel as unicode text-file and substitute tab with comma I get the same problem with space (NUL) between the letters.
When save as PDF, the password protected PDF saved as unprotected document
location: linuxexchange.com - date: January 9, 2015
I am serving encrypted PDFs to a browser. When a user chooses "save as PDF" in Chrome on the print dialog, the file is being saved successfully, but it is no longer password protected. I want to end user to be able to print the document, but I don't want the end user to be able to remove the password protection.
Libreoffice freezes entire system when using Classic desktop 11.04
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 9, 2011
Hello! This is my first post here, sorry to make it a question, I promise I'll try to contribute too
Anyway, the title says it all basically. Can't run Libreoffice when using the Classic desktop (runs fine in Unity desktop). After the splash screen shows up, the loading bar starts loading and then everything freezes (at 1/6 of the loading bar). Can't do anything but turn off and on the computer. I already tried uninstalling/installing again.
By the way, I always mess with the Compiz settings a lot and maybe I did something wrong, but I can't figure out what.
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!
Saving as HTML in calc, 11.10 + LibreOffice

(have also posted this in the OpenOffice forum to try and get to the bottom of it but have duplicated it here to try and cover as many reviewers as possible)
Anyone else having great problems with the upgrade to Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot) and LibreOffice?
Some of my CALC spreadsheets:
Cannot be seen in "page preview"
Cannot be printed at all
Cannot be saved in HTML format - neither via menu nor macro. The file produced is missing all the data, although the formatted cells are output.
all of which ran perfectly in previous versions of Ubuntu
The printer problems seem to be generic through the LibreOffice suite, even though the printer drivers etc. are all installed.
Doing some investigations, it isn't EVERY file - only some, and even then it is only some sheets in some files, none of which seem to differ from any other sheet or file. Also happens across all users on the laptop, not just mine.
I have done an upgrade from 11.04 to 11.10 (rather than a new insta
LibreOffice Writer 18.104.22.168 Crashes When Saving Certain .DOC Files
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: December 19, 2012
I am also making this post on the LibreOffice forums...
We are using LibreOffice in a test deployment right now, (most of our staff are still using an older version of OpenOffice), and I have encountered an unusual issue with one of my test subjects.
They have a legacy Word file from when they had a Windows laptop, and they are trying to make and save changes to the file. It seems to me, when the DOC converter is running during the save process, something goes wrong, and LibreOffice Writer crashes.
I have tried to reproduce the problem on my desktop with LibreOffice 22.214.171.124 and the problem does not occur.
When saving from the problem version 126.96.36.199, if the file is re-saved as an ODT instead of a DOC, nothing goes wrong, and the software behaves as expected. (I have asked the staff member to do this as a workaround while I talk with the community about the problem.)
I am trying to narrow down this issue, and if someone can inform me of whe
How to import a PDF in LibreOffice Impress?
location: linuxexchange.com - date: March 6, 2015
I'm making a document in LO Impress, say a poster, and want to import an image that was produced by another software in a form of a single page PDF (it's a simple plot). At the moment LO doesn't support import of PDFs by default. Does anyone know any possible extensions (like "Import PDF" for older versions of LO, which doesn't exist any more) or workarounds? Currently, I need to convert all the PDFs to EPSs, which is not good.
I tried LibreOffice Impress 188.8.131.52 and 184.108.40.206 on Ubuntu 14.04.
If you know that OpenOffice or some other Linux software solved it already, please share.
Saving MATLAB figures as PDF with quality 300 DPI, centered
location: linuxexchange.com - date: August 30, 2012
I want to save a MATLAB figure as PDF, with quality 300 DPI, and centered.
So far I managed to save it, but the image appears cropped. I changed the page type to A3 and kind of solves the problem, but I am looking for something more elegant. I am doing it from the GUI, but maybe from the command line is easier in MATLAB.
Is there any package or script that makes this (fundamental task for publications and papers) a bit easier?
