styling content.xml in an openoffice/libreoffice document
location: linuxexchange.com - date: January 1, 1970
This is the next episode of my previous question LibreOffice: a XSLT stylesheet to generate a slideshow?
I'm now generating content.xml with XSLT.
It is possible in libreoffice/content.xml to add an inline style in a text:p . Something like xhtml:span (see below ) ?
<draw:frame presentation:style-name="" svg:width="25.199cm"
svg:height="3.506cm" svg:x="1.4cm" svg:y="0.837cm" presentation:class="title">
<text:p>My name is <xhtml:span style="color:red;"><xsl:value-of select="name"/></xhtml:span></text:p>
or do I need to declare all the named style elsewhere ?
How to get an XML element text in a LibreOffice Basic macro?
location: linuxexchange.com - date: December 3, 2013
I have a LibreOffice Basic macros to write/ read XML files. I have ported them from VBA. So far everything seems to be working except for retrieving the text from XML elements. Here is the (simplified) Sub that creates an XML object, writes it to file and reads an XML file into an XML object:
Dim oleService, oXMLexp as Object, oXMLimp as Object
Dim oRoot, oNode as Object
Dim HOME as String
oleService = createUnoService("com.sun.star.bridge.OleObjectFactory")
' Change this one:
HOME = "C:\tmp"
' Create an XML object to export
oXMLexp = oleService.createInstance("Msxml.DOMDocument")
.async = False
.validateOnParse = False
.resolveExternals = False
oRoot = .createElement("Root")
oNode = .createElement("ElementA")
oNode.Text = "Text of ElementA"
'THIS DOESN'T WORK!
oNode = .createElement("Elem

Error code 404 when accessing php and xml files using Ubuntu 11.10
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 24, 2012
I set up a copy of Ubuntu 11.10 a few weeks ago and have been setting it up as a server. I have almost everything working but I am not able to access either xml or php files from either SmartFoxServer or Unity. I have changed the ownership and groups in my www folder to www-data but that didn't get it done. I do have phpmyadmin working, can telnet to the ports that the applications use. If I try http://localhost I do get the Apache screen showing that is working. ANy ideas would be greatly appreciated!
LibreOffice Problem in Quantal Quetzal
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 15, 2012
I was hoping that the problem will be solved any day. However, with only three days left before the final release, I thought that I must report the problem.
In Quantal Quetzal I have observed the following problems with LibreOffice,
Let us say I have already opened a file. When a second file in opened, and the cursor is moved to top, the top menu (File, Edit, View, Insert...) does not (often) appear in the second one. It appears, sometimes, when I wait for a few minutes. And sometimes, when the first file is closed.When the submenu (e.g. Format->Cells) is selected, the subsequent window does not appear.LibreOffice often crashes.When File->Close is selected, the file does not close. The cross button works however.
These problems occur at random.
These problems are unique to LibreOffice.
I am using Ubuntu 12.10 (QQ) in my office machine. Updates are run daily.
I use 12.04 (PP) in my home machine and the above problems are not there.
How To: Install LibreOffice
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 30, 2010
As LibreOffice is at the third beta stage it shouldn't be used in production environments but if you wish, it can be installed nonetheless.
** You can have LibreOffice sit along side OpenOffice, but if you want to remove OpenOffice entirely then enter the following command into Terminal **
sudo apt-get remove openoffice*.*
1 - Download LibreOffice from: LibreOffice Downloads
2 - Extract the file to ~/Desktop
3 - Rename the file to libreoffice
4 - Open Terminal and enter this command:
sudo dpkg -i ~/Desktop/libreoffice/DEBS/*.deb
5 - Then enter the following command into Terminal:
sudo dpkg -i ~/Desktop/libreoffice/DEBS/desktop-integration/libreoffice3.5-debian-menus_3.5.4-2_all.deb
You have now successfully installed LibreOffice.
LibreOffice 4.0 Unity Integration in 12.04
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: February 7, 2013
I know that Ubuntu doesn't (yet) support the latest version of Libre Office, which is 4.0 (released today).
Nevertheless, I have installed it, and it works very well.
Supposedly, LibreOffice 4.0 has Unity Integration built in (scroll down to "GUI", roughly halfway down the page). But it doesn't work.
Installing lo-menubar is not an answer, because it uninstalls the Libre Office menus and installs a bunch of other applications that conflict with LibreOffice 3.6 or 4.0.
Any idea what the problem is, and how to fix it? I would like the Unity menu bar to work with Libre Office.
I am using 12.04 64-bit, fully updated.
libreoffice incredibly buggy in 12.10?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 21, 2012
I just upgraded to quantal and I'm working on a paper in libreoffice writer and have noticed a number of bugs.
After saving the paper, the menu items have disappeared. I can click the menu title but no menu items show up. I closed LibreOffice and reopened it, and am having the same issue.
I couldn't insert a page break either.
Is this a problem with my system or are other people experiencing anything like this in the stock libreoffice with 12.10?
I'd really like to work with some reliable office suite soon because this semester is pretty busy. I have to favor usability and reliability over features right now..
Any suggestions? A good alternative to LibreOffice in the repos, or is it something else wrong with my system?
LibreOffice won't start
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: August 21, 2012
I've been having trouble with LibreOffice starting. I'm running Ubuntu 12.04, and I have two different user accounts on my computer. LibreOffice used to work fine, but for the past few days I can only use LibreOffice (calc, writer, or any of the programs) when logged in as one of the users. When I'm logged in on the other account if I click on the launcher icon it just blinks and does nothing.
I also tried launching LibreOffice in several ways and nothing seems to work. I tried from the dash and from a terminal. If I was logged in as User1 (where LibreOffice works) and then I use a terminal to su as User2, running LibreOffice as User2 from the terminal still doesn't work.
Any ideas what could be causing this?
Can't read LibreOffice Menus, items replaced with dashes
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 18, 2012
Hi there, i'm running xubuntu 11.10 and I've come across something of a problem with LibreOffice 3.5. The drop down menus (file, edit, view, format, etc) have all of the items there, but the names are replaced with dashes of varying length. I don't think it has anything to do with my theme (xfce-dusk) because I have tried other themes with no change. I have tried increasing and decreasing the default font size for the system, and I have tried increasing the GUI zoom from the LibreOffice preferences (which I know is the last item on the tools menu) to no avail.
What else can I do? Is there a way to reset LibreOffice?
