Installing Linux Mint Problem
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 27, 2013
I know Linux mint is ubuntu based so I wanted to give it a try. I downloaded it to USB and it works perfect while on USB. But I have problems during the installation. It turns out there are 2 options that I care: runing alongside windows and partition.
I have 3 partitions in my pc. C, D, A
C, and D, came by defoult in my lenovo since it was given by the university like this. the parititon A was done my me and it has 50Gb of freespace I got for linux XD!!
So going back to the installation...... If I select installing along side windows, the installer will show me only 50gb avialable as free space.... and ontop of that it asks me to decide bewteen two halfs of that 25gb each.... I dont understand.. but anyway I still cannot select any!!
So I went to the other option, and here my hard drive partitions appear, I select the 50 gb free(A) and hit install... but my installer says I need a location for my root.. but I cannot select anymore....

Redhat Linux login problem with nonroot user
location: linuxquestions.com - date: September 2, 2003
I have an SSH login problem with our newly installed RedHat Advanced Server 2.1 running on Dell PowerEdge 1750. I CAN SSH into it if I log in as root, however, if I try to log in as normal user, error message 'connection closed' will appear.
Anybody has encountered simliar problem? I don't think it's ssh problem, as I turn on sshd verbose level to DEBUG, sshd is not complaining anything. Instead, I believe it should have something to do with my PAM configuration, but I am new to PAM and cannot find anything wrong with those config files.
Here is my /etc/pam.d/sshd:
auth required /lib/security/pam_stack.so service=system-auth
auth required /lib/security/pam_nologin.so
account required /lib/security/pam_stack.so service=system-auth
password required /lib/security/pam_stack.so service=system-auth
session required /lib/security/pam_stack.so service=system-auth
session required /lib/security/pam_limits.so
session optional /lib/security/pam_console.so
linux market problem

It take take time to learn your way around Linux. I been using Linux for less then 10 year and it have change a lot from dose days. I still do not known everything. Ones you get hooked it hard to change back to MS Windows. The only thing that is keeping Linux back is ready Gamers. The demand for PC games is for MS Windows. Yes know is easier now to play games. there are ways to do so, but not the level for MS. I said that, because I do not see a difference now from other things that Linux can not do that you use to do on MS. Also I do see lots of people who do not know that there are other OS's out there. I when to buy a webcam in Radio Shack and the sale rep in the store did not know what was Linux. The rep was younger then me. You would thing that he would be a little techie known how.
But no he did not know. He dose know Android on phones. In the end MS has a great marketing for MS Windows and Google has also for Android.
linux install problem after loading kernel
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 13, 2008
I am using kubuntu since one month, and I upgrade the previous version to kubuntu 8.04. Just notice that this computer has a partition for xp, and an other one for linux. I change something in the fstab file (in order to solve a problem with the cd drive) and then I could not run kubuntu anymore, it crash even on recovery mode, the error message is the following:
etc/init.d/ r : 137 :red .permision denied
init is enable to execute "init/sh" for rc default permission denied.
I decided to boot from the live cd, but now nothing happens... it stops after loading the kernel:
and then I have a black screen with a black cursor, and nothing happens.
Is that normal,
Is anyone can help me?
Thank for your time,

location: linuxquestions.com - date: November 8, 2004
Hi people, I have a problem with cups, the problem is sharing the printer, the cups server has 192.168.2.2 as ip address, when I try to add a Cups remote printer in a client I cannot see the printer, I have tried to add a Cups remote printer in the same computer as the server with localhost address and I see it, but when I put the ip address of that machine I can see the printer, what do you think that is the problem? all computers are in the same subnet 192.168.2.* Cups server ip 192.168.2.2
Clients ips are 192.168.2.3 to 192.168.2.5
