linux boot problem on dual boot mac mini
location: linuxquestions.com - date: June 11, 2007
I have an intel mac mini that I've had for a few months. Back when I first got it I installed FC6 as a dual boot using bootcamp to repartition, and rEFIt to pick the OS on boot. I think I'm also using grub, but I don't remember. This worked beautifully until last night when something odd happened with Linux, and I did a hard reboot. Since then the boot process has not worked for linux (although Mac OS still boots ok). When I choose linux from rEFIt, the screen goes blank and nothing happens. I tried upgrading to the latest version of rEFIt, and then it booted one time to linux just fine, and then not again since then. I also tried booting from some linux live CDs through rEFIt, and by holding the "c" button on startup, and it worked only once, but not any other time. This whole time, Mac OS has continued to work flawlessly. Any ideas?

Porting C Program to Linux & Problem with Size of ICMP Packet
location: linuxquestions.com - date: January 6, 2010
I have a C program that has been running for years on Solaris platform. I have compiled it on Linux 2.6 successfully.
The program sits on a RAW socket and continually waits and processes custom ICMP packets that arrive from different devices.
When the recvfrom() drops through from an incoming packet, the return (rc) says it read a 256 byte icmp type packet that I sent in. That's all good.
I pass the recvfrom buffer to a function and cast it to a struct ip pointer. At this point, when I check the size of the packet using ip_len, it now shows 5121 bytes as the packet size.
I don't understand how the packet grew from 256 bytes to 5121 byes. I am really out of ideas on why this is happening. On Solaris, the packet size is what is should be but not on Linux.
Any ideas you may have would be very helpful. Thank you.
I will include the main code pieces below.
The Linux/Flash problem
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 11, 2013
I don't need to post here very often, my system works just fine except for: "The Flash problem"; I know that Adobe has withdrawn Linux support for Flash. This has caused me serious problems, I simply can't view most Youtube vids and I want to do an on-line course but the videos offered as part of the course are all Flash based, well, you can see my problem.
What I want to know is: is there a solution to this? If not, this is a deal breaker for me, I can't see any way out, other than to stop using Linux... This, I do not want to do, I really need your help and advice.
