linux boot problem on dual boot mac mini
location: linuxquestions.com - date: June 11, 2007
I have an intel mac mini that I've had for a few months. Back when I first got it I installed FC6 as a dual boot using bootcamp to repartition, and rEFIt to pick the OS on boot. I think I'm also using grub, but I don't remember. This worked beautifully until last night when something odd happened with Linux, and I did a hard reboot. Since then the boot process has not worked for linux (although Mac OS still boots ok). When I choose linux from rEFIt, the screen goes blank and nothing happens. I tried upgrading to the latest version of rEFIt, and then it booted one time to linux just fine, and then not again since then. I also tried booting from some linux live CDs through rEFIt, and by holding the "c" button on startup, and it worked only once, but not any other time. This whole time, Mac OS has continued to work flawlessly. Any ideas?

MIPS Linux Booting Problem
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 8, 2009
I have started the vantage sigma design SMP8634 board,
I downloaded the zboot2.bin,zbimage-yamon,zbimage-linuz-xrpc to the board,
after download ,rebooted.
The boot process directly goes to the kernel, yamon is missing.
As i don't have ICE for jtag,So i tried dd , actually i don't know which mtdblock partition for the yamon, because the mtd partition map doesn't shows any yamon entry,so by guess i selected /dev/mtdblock3, bs=1024 and used the xrpc_xload_vmlinux_8634_ES4_dev.bin for the dd.
And when i rebooted, i got the message zboot (4) failed.
Please help me to proceed with this issue.
The Linux/Flash problem
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 11, 2013
I don't need to post here very often, my system works just fine except for: "The Flash problem"; I know that Adobe has withdrawn Linux support for Flash. This has caused me serious problems, I simply can't view most Youtube vids and I want to do an on-line course but the videos offered as part of the course are all Flash based, well, you can see my problem.
What I want to know is: is there a solution to this? If not, this is a deal breaker for me, I can't see any way out, other than to stop using Linux... This, I do not want to do, I really need your help and advice.

But I get the error:
**Makefile:94: Linux kernel source not configured - missing autoconf.h. Stop**
But I see autoconf.h presents on my system. What should I do ?

Uninstalling Linux Ubuntu problem
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 6, 2009
This is what happened:
I had a dual boot, Vista and Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy. Since Ubuntu had connection problems i decided to remove it and get a better distro. I read about the formatting of partitions being the only way of removing Linux but i didnt have any software to format partitions, so i used Vista to format the partitions, i must have done it wrongly or something because after rebooting, it had a black screen written:
And it just did not proceed from there. Now i couldn't boot my machine and i couldn't access anything.
Since i had an XP install disc i thought to put it and load the machine from XP. I installed XP, it showed me the two partitions that i had deleted (which it termed unallocated partitions). I used one of the unallocated partitions to install XP. After installing it, it also refused to boot. It just goes to a black screen with the cursor and nothing happens. How can i fix this? If i reinstall Linux back, will it boot and replace the grub
