how to uninstall software on Linux
location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 1, 2008
If I install some software on a Linux system by building it with make and then make install, is there a command to give Linux to tell it to uninstall? I am asking if there is a "make uninstall"?
If I did the "make install" command and messed up, how can I undo it?
When I was trying to build a kernel, with the instructions to build it, the PC crashed. This was for a 2.6.2X kernel. I rebooted the machine, and then it did not run right. I could have done something wrong. How can I undo it?
Does Linux have a backup and restore capability? Can you set a restore point?

Command line software installation on Puppy Linux

I would like to install bximage on Puppy Linux to create a virtual disk. Puppy Linux is an Ubuntu distribution, so I tried using sudo apt-get install bximage but it did not seem to work (the command worked on a typical Ubuntu machine naturally). I understand the software comes when bochs gets installed, but if possible, I would prefer a simple installation to add bximage functionality.
I have referred to http://puppylinux.org/wikka/software and tried using ppm, Puppy Package Manager, but neither bximage nor bochs was not listed. My major concern is to install bximage and any pointer would be appreciated.

Linux/BSD VPN software for nettonet with DynDNS at both ends?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: March 8, 2008
I'm currently living in an apartment away from 'home', but most of my machines are at home. Both ends have residential high-bandwidth connections (Verizon FiOS and OptOnline, respectively) with dynamic IPs. I have IPcop running at both ends at the moment, but have had no success with either the builtin IPsec or the Zerina (OpenVPN) add-on.
I was wondering whether anyone can suggest any router/firewall software (or hardware, though I'd prefer software, since I already have the two boxes) that they *know* will work with dynamic IPs and dynDNS at both ends?
The IP for OptOnline changes quite often, so hard-coding it isn't an option.
