Access a Mac OSX shared folder from Linux
location: linuxquestions.com - date: July 17, 2013
I have a Mac with OS-X (Mountain Lion) with a couple of folder shares, that is connected to my home network. Now, I also have an Ubuntu 12.04 box connected to the same network and would like to have access to the shared folders in the Mac. Is this possible? If it is, please, explain. Is it also possible the other way around (have access to shared folders in Linux from a Mac)? Thanks.
Logitech G110 gaming keyboard on linux?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 19, 2012
Does anyone lurking on this forum have any experience using an Logitech G110 gaming keyboard with linux?
I requested information from Logitech but only got an automated response that they only provide software for Windblows and Mac, not linux.
Has anyone been able to patch the Mac software to work in linux?
I'm not sure if the software is needed only for initially programming the 12 extra "gaming" keys or for actually using them (converting the returned scan codes).
Any thoughts, comments, or tips regarding this subject would be greatly appreciated.
VMware + Ubuntu Linux NAT will not allow internet access
location: linuxquestions.com - date: December 16, 2012
Hello everyone, just last night I came across a weird problem...
Okay well here is my setup...
I have Windows 7 running as my Host OS. I have Ubuntu Linux running as my Guest OS. Now I have pretty much always used NAT as my network setting for VMWare player, yet last night for no reason my internet just stopped working. I did not alter any host/router files or do any kind of network configurations.
So i figured it was just a problem a simple reboot would fix but when I did reboot my computer and ran vmware player again and started linux with NAT my internet was not working.
Now when I would do a ping for google i would get this kind of reply.
ping: unknown host google.com
Now i have no idea what could have caused this, I swear to you all I did not touch anything!
Okay so let me give you some info...

cant access linux (ubuntu 9.10) despite it still works (provides network services)
- date: November 8, 2010
My ubuntu 9.10 box is locked. If i try to connect via SSH, it never gets to the user login, but it doesnt show the cant connect error.
Via webmin, it prompts me the user & pass page (showing that the service is up! the connectivity is ok, and network works), but it wont ever login. it waits and load for ever.
In phisical console, i write down the user & password, i logoin correctly and it loads the welcome screen, displaying the used memory (43%), the users logged (0) etc, but it never shows the
command line, so i can write, but without any effect.
Meanwhile, on the pc's connected to its LAN, some services as DHCP doesnt work, but other ones like a proxy and firewall still work. Every user can still surf the net.
Lan --------- ubuntu server ----------- Internet
Right now, i have my ubuntu server in that state and i can try to do any test that could help me.
Wish to access files in USB pen drive in Ubuntu Linux
location: linuxquestions.com - date: July 16, 2010
I'm a newbie and wish to copy files from USB drive to some location in Ubuntu Linux and have tried with the command 'sudo mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/usb' and have received following message 'mount: /dev/sda1 already mounted or /mnt/usb busy. mount: according to mtab, /dev/sda1 is mounted on /boot'.
I don't understand what it says, since I don't find the usb drive neither in '/boot' path nor I find it in '/mnt/usb'. So please make me understand how do I access the files on flash drive and copy at the desired place.
Thanks in advance

Unable to configure postgres 9.1 for remote access on Ubuntu 11.10 (GNU/Linux 3.0.01
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 10, 2012
I have a dedicated 32bit Ubuntu server setup with the Nuxeo Document management platform installed with the Postgres 9.1 DB. All installs were done with apt-get.
Based upon all of my research, Postgres installs working with localhost. This is fine for Nuxeo, however, I want to do some table and trigger work and as such have been trying to configure postgres to be accessed remotely.
I have installed pgadmin III (thinking this might add additional libraries on the server and ran all updates on postgresql.
Server on my network is 192.168.1.11
am attempting to connect to it with pgAdmin from a Windows 7 desktop from ip 192.168.1.22.
all of the various solutions regarding enabling access to postgres discuss modifying two files:
postgresql.conf (adding listening addresses)
pg_hba.conf (adding authentication parameters)
I have followed all of the tutorials regarding the modifications, even resorting to the "all open" approach to get it working. However, when EVE
