Access Windows Mapped Drives in Linux Wine
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: December 26, 2012
I've just started with Linux and I'm having a problem. Hopefully someone can help me with this.
I'm running Ubuntu 12.10 and wine 1.5.19 on a IntelMacPro ( Slave ).
On this Mac ( slave ) I'm running some Windows programs ( Lightwave: lwsn.exe and eyeon fusion: renderslave.exe ).
This seems to work, but these programs need to access some Windows mapped drives ( like x: y: and z: to be precise ) on an other machine ( a Master running Win7 64bit ).
Does anybody know how to get windows mapped drives into wine ( ~/.wine/dosdevices/ )?
So these programs can access the mapped drives.
I'm looking all over the net for answers but I can't seem to get this to work. Anybody know the answer?
But remember I'm a Linux Dummy :-/
Thanks in advance...

I am new in linux. I have one query on NAP test lab set-up.
If I make a NAP test lab set up where I am using Win2k as Radius server, certificate server and DNS. 2k8 as NAP system health validator and two Win7 system as NAP clients.
If I have connect one linux system on that network which is not having NAP agent then what will happen?
Can that NAP server give linux system full permission or that system will be non compliant?

Linux Laptop (iPad Like but with keyboard) recommendation
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: August 17, 2012
I am not a great user of iPad (or iPad like) devices. Rather more keyboard centric. Plus an avid user of Emacs.
I am familiar with the buzzword / trend towards "Build Your Own Device" (BYOD) in the mobile world.
I am looking for recommendations on a Linux laptop that is the size of an iPad and incudes a keyboard and Wi-Fi.
Thanks in advance.

I have a HDD which was installed in laptop dual-boot win7 and fedora17, I deleted Linux partition from windows disk-utility, now system is not acknowledging it. I also tried to access it as usb drive but no luck I have used EaseUS partition recovery and it is not showing the disk, windows is not showing the disk Linux(Fedora and Ubuntu) hangs when I try to access it.
I have important data on it and I don't want to format it although it is not accessible to format.
I am sorry it was not clear. I was using win when I deleted the Linux partition. When I rebooted at that time I realized that I have made a mistake the boot was showing that the hdd is inaccessible. I took out the HDD and used it as an external hdd. And tried it with windows, partition recovery and fedora on usb, ubuntu on usb and mint livecd I arranged another system and installed ubuntu and fedora and then I tried it.
