How to fix mbr in linux or gparted, etc. (for a mbr partitioned disk)
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 24, 2012
I am used to using gpt disks, therefore I was using gptsync to fix mbr.
I do not know if gptsync can fix mbr in mbr disks, which I think not.
I am wondering if there is any command that I can use like gptsync to fix mbr of mbr disks.

Linux AutoNeoGrub0.mbr is corrupt of missing?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 20, 2013
I've been trying to get my windows boot manager working so I can boot both Windows 7 and Linux. Currently, I can boot both, but only run when I click on "Windows 7" in the boot manager (Linux will run if my external hard drive with it is plugged in).
When I click on the Linux option I made with EasyBCD, it just says windows failed to start and the AutoNeoGrub0.mbr is missing or corrupt.
I've already tried reinstalling Grub2 and giving it updates through the terminal. The same problem still remains.
Anything I can do to fix it?
How to fix MBR?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 20, 2011
I have computer which runs Ubuntu 10.04 which has built in SD card slot. I have 8GB SDHC card with installed Ubuntu.
I need to clone Ubuntu from 8GB SDHC card into 4GB SDHC card. The actual size of data is less then 3GB so there is no problem here.
I manually created 2 partitions boot and root and successfully copied all content from 8GB SDHC card into 4GB SDHC card.
The only problem remained how to fix MBR, because obviously target 4GB SDHC doesn't boot.
Can anyone advise?
Fix MBR Windows XP With bootable ubuntu usb
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: August 2, 2011
Hello, i just started working for a company who uses windows xp and they encounter a lot corrupted boot records ( restarts over and over on the windows xp is loading screen ). I am a fan of Ubuntu i used to use it in college for programming i am in no way great at it but i know the basics.
I was wondering if there was a way to repair this boot record with my bootable Ubuntu USB because this company does not have an actual Physical XP disk anymore to load the recovery console and they are currently reimaging the machines each time. I feel this is a waste. I was wondering if anyone has any insight?
Remove linux fix disk error
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 23, 2006
I need help with a problem. I will start from the beginning and explain what I did before everything.
I installed Suse linux 9.3 with GRUB about a week ago after I formated the windows partition. Some days ago I booted from a windows cd and removed the linux partitons and installed windows instead, because that was what I was planning to do from the beginning.
Now when I have installed windows "DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER" appears every time I boot. But when I use the windows xp boot cd it works and somehow can boot from the harddrive. I have tried "FIXMBR" and "FIXBOOT" but it won't work even if it appeared to be succefull.
Thankful for help, i've been sitting 5-8 hours a day the whole week. I most fix this. It's strange that it doesn't work even if I formated the partitions, it shouldn't be any data left there!

Fix MBR/remove grub on vista business laptop without destroying any data
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: August 15, 2008
As you have read in the title, I need to remove grub and/or fix my windows vista MBR. I tried to install Linux to a portable USB harddrive, and it apparently installed grub to the vista HD. This is a business laptop and I need to it be working very soon. Can anyone help me restore or fix my MBR, or remove GRUB?
I get A grub error 21 when booting up..
Last time this happened to my desktop, and i had to get a new harddrive! I can't have that happen!
Also, I do not have access to a windows disc because the restore files are on the harddrive!
Also, this is on a laptop if it helps.
Oh, and on another somewhat related note, I have another laptop that i need to the mbr on. I haven't installed linux on it though, so if someone with knowledge of the windows mbr sees this, I
'd really like it if they could help with that too. But the vista laptop is more importent.
[SOLVED] vista multiple linux boot mbr problem
location: linuxquestions.com - date: January 2, 2010
hi. i had a working multi-boot system, vista on sda1,2; swap sda3; ext=sda4; ubuntu sda5; fedora sda6; data sda7 - i mount the data partition when using all of the linux releases so i don't have to have multiple copies of music, docs, etc. everything has worked fine until yesterday. i tried to install fc12 on sda6, replacing fc11. it required me to format sda6 as ext4. i wasn't sure where i had grub installed, but have a backup of menu.lst in data (sda7), so figured i could let it install to mbr or wherever it wanted to by default.
when the install completed and i reboot, i get a black screen and these messages: CLIENT MAC ADDR: 00 19 XX XX XX GUID: XXXXX PXE-E53: No boot filename received
PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel Boot Agent.
No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key
I tried reinstalling fc12, same exact errors.
I then thought maybe the problem had something to do with ext4 partition mixed in with ext3's, so i installed mepis on the sda6, and let it write grub to m
Games / 3D crashing in linux Fix
location: linuxquestions.com - date: January 19, 2008
Just wanted to post a solution I had to a problem I have been having lately since I installed my ATI All-In-Wonder X800 (AGP).
Whenever I would open an application requiring 3d rendering (quake 3, Wolfenstein, etc) the game would crash about a minute in and give me a sig 11 code.
I took apart my computer to realize I was running a 300 Watt power supply. I replaced it with a 500 watt and everything runs fine now (and the system is faster).
So if your getting random crashes (sig 11) from graphics intensive tasks. Check your PSU.
