Out of the park 14 Linux version install on Ubuntu 13.04 64 bit help
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: August 19, 2013
I have downloaded the game "Out of the Park 14 Linux download". This was a tar.gz file. I extracted it, and there was an installer file. This was not a .deb format and when I select open, the installation screen came up. when I selected install with the defaults, it said cannot load, not correct access rights. I am not a newbie and have usually figured installs out via the forum or googling topics. This one has me stumped. It may be so easy but I have been on this for several days with no luck. I understand the "out of the park 14" is a 32 bit program and I have all 32 libraries installed from getting bricscad and draftsight working so I should be good there. I tried creating a deb file using alien to convert the tar.gz file, no luck. See screen shots attached of install for exact issue. Thanks for any help in this regard. Respectfully,
JDK 1.4 installation problems on 64 bit GNU/Linux
location: linuxquestions.com - date: March 15, 2012
I'm trying to install JDK 1.4 (j2sdk-1_4_2_10-linux-ia64-rpm.bin) on a 64 bit GNU/Linux. When I get past the License agreement, I get the following error:
tail: cannot open `+511' for reading: No such file or directory
The download file appears to be corrupted. Please refer
to the Troubleshooting section of the Installation
Instructions on the download page for more information.
Please do not attempt to install this archive file.
Note: I have already successfully installed JDK 1.6 in the same path and I do not have access to the root.
64 bit Linux Mint 11 / ubuntu 11.04 is randomly logging out due to adobe flash
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 3, 2011
Hello, I have to write this quick, as linux mint 11 has restarted 4 or 5 times in the last two hours. I'm just checking my email, and out of no-where the screen goes black, some text quickly appears on the screen (can't read it all but it looks like the text I get when I ask the computer to shutdown/reboot/logout) and two seconds later, I'm at the login screen again. anyone else get this and what do you do to fix it?
Oh and I'm getting a request for a keyring. I think that is the only new thing I have noticed since turning on my comp since last night (when there were no issues). Does anyone know how to disable the keyring password prompt? it's annoying and I don't know what it's for in the first place.
well I think I may have solved the problem. Adobe Flash had been acting screwy in general (youtube clips would frequently not open, a gray screen would show up instead; it would get stuck mid-way through long videos and need refreshing; or would seem slow down my comp way

Mysql in linux 8.10 64 bit (how to uninstall first)
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: February 27, 2009
Yesterday i finally recieved my laptop that i intend to use for programming. I installed Ubuntu, but I'm not good at it yet. I use guides for every step that i make in the terminal. In the end i do manage to get most things working, but mysql is an exception.
The mysql book that I'm using suggested me to download the most recent server and client rpm files. when i did this i found out that ubuntu cannot treat these. A website suggested to convert them into .deb using alien. Afterwards sudo could be used to install them. Well i did this, and i try to log in into mysql but i get some strange error concerning files.
I suddenly found out that ubuntu already had (parts ?) of mysql installed. maybe the installation that i did messed this up ? So now i'm trying to find a way to get rid of all the mysql stuff to do a clean install after (maybe use a tar file instead so i dont have to use alien). The synaptic package manager does show anything mysql related though (wh
