linux with 32 mb of ram
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 20, 2003
Hi, i just got this cheapo laptop with only 48mb of ram. yes, i put 32 in the subject but who counts in 48's anyway? And i was wondering if any good linux distributions are out there that can work with this much. I checked Mandrake and Redhat but their requirements are too high. As you can guess, i'm a real newbie and i'm not too familiar with any of the other distributions. was hoping to learn linux with this cheap laptop
PPC 32 bit or 64 bit?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 21, 2012
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...74#post9394474
After reading this, I have the same issue as him with a G5 Quad. I downloaded the 64 bit image and installed it, but the OS and my browser think I'm running a 32 bit system. Is there any way to change this? Also System Monitor thinks I have a 64 bit kernel and "Release 12.04 (precise) 32-bit."
On a side note.. does anyone have a good ubuntu gui temp monitor that works with the G5 quad?
linux display 32 bit graphix
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 4, 2003
is there any possibility that my Redhat system can display at 32 bits instead at 24. when i try to rdesktop to a windows xp system, i can't go higher than 16 because my display is working at 24, for xp the next step is 32 which is not compatible.
Linux x86 32/64: issue with file > 2gb
location: linuxquestions.com - date: October 15, 2009
Hi,
In our product, we have a limitation that tmp file(file created in /tmp folder for dumping data retrieved from db) cannot be written more than 2gb size. So in order to increase it to write till 4gb, we changed mainly in our code from fseek to fseek064. When we tried to execute this code compiled with ICC v9.1.0.46, it worked fine. But when we used 7.1.032, it fails exactly when temp file reaches 2g size. The error returned from fseeko64 is "2" which seems to be "No such file or directory". This doesn't seem to make any sense. Also we are not sure whether compiler version has any role here to play.
I have added 2 required compile time flags -D_LARGEFILE64_SOURCE=1 & -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE=1 for compiling with ICC compiler. The same code works fine with Solaris but not on Linux x86 32bit/64bit.
I use Red Hat Linux x86 32bit/64bit.
Can anyone suggest what could be wrong here? Is there any other way to get rid of this situation? Any pointers please?
