[Enter] in text documents diffrent on Windows and Linux? UTF8/UTF16 problem or?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: November 24, 2004
I have noticed that the few times I have had to work on computers with one of the Windows operating systems my text files have two boxes instead of [Enter], you can see an example of them in this [ http://binni.gothicmars.com/simplicity.css ] file if you are on a Windows machine.
I don't know much about how text works, how it is encoded, but is this a problem with the fact that Linux uses UTF-8 to encode text files while Windows uses UTF-16?
linux mintnpviwer.bin problem
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 29, 2009
I had been trying to watch youtube videos on linux mint in fullscreen.
I was able to it yesterday, but today or rather tonight and early morning it kept freezing on me. Actually it froze the whole bloody computer.I also got multiple displays of something called npviwer.bin. Okay so that was what was doing the freezing. A google brought me to other posts about it here.
Someone did seem to have solved the problem, but I couldn't really understand exactly what i was supposed to do.
So I tried things like uninstalling the intalled flashplugin, and installing a different version from the pacage manager. Actually are there
different versions or just different names. Anyway that didn't work.
Well I guess there must have been different versions there, because when i did install a different version and went to youtube, it asked for a newer
version of flash. So eventually i clicked the "get flash player" link on youtube, and downloaded the deb version for ubuntu .something or oth

Ubuntu 10.04 and Realtek 8111E chip heads up
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: February 12, 2012
Just wanted to share this information.
I have Asus P8H61 USB3 motherboard with that gigabyte capable realtek chip and the driver that comes with Ubuntu 10.04 that chip doesn't work as it should. Connection is dropping, download and upload speeds are low, there is lot's of packet loss.
Problem is solved by downloading new driver from realteks website. Install it and reboot. Problems are gone!

Ubuntu 11.04: Realtek 8111E goes up and down

I've recently upgrade my machine. Its new motherboard is Asus M5A99X EVO on AMD 990X chipset with Realtek 8111E network adapter. It happens to work very unreliable, constantly going up and down. Here's statistics for the ping to my router:
--- 192.168.1.1 ping statistics ---
1811 packets transmitted, 425 received, +450 errors, 76% packet loss, time 1810688ms

Realtek 8111E driver r8168 issues
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 5, 2013
lubuntu 12.10 3.5.0-25-generic. The correct drivers seem to be loaded but it never gets an IP or successfully connects. I do get a green light when hooking in a cable, and it works fine on windows (separate drive).
Motherboard: GA-970A-D3 AM3+ 970 R
I followed the online guides and installed the drivers from realtek's website (r8168-8.028.00.tar.bz2). I also removed r8169 drivers. It seemed to install correctly but it still doesn't work.

No internet connection on Realtek 8111e / 12.10
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 31, 2012
Just build a new set up with Realtek 8111F Lan controller. I got no connection so I installed r8168 drivers. The autorun.sh did nothing so I used some old modswitch12.04 script. Everything seemed to go as intended but I still got no luck with internet. What should I do next? Or could I just buy a PCI network card that would actually work with Ubuntu?
[SOLVED] Realtek 8111E Gigabit LAN not working
location: linuxquestions.com - date: July 16, 2012
I just installed Slackware in a Dual-boot computer with Windows 7 running an Asus P8Z68-V LX. I installed all the drivers and everything Windows needed fine so it's not an internet problem. I'm now trying to download some graphics card drivers but the connection starts fast, but then quickly slows until it just stops. Any idea what the problem is?
