The Linux/Flash problem
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 11, 2013
I don't need to post here very often, my system works just fine except for: "The Flash problem"; I know that Adobe has withdrawn Linux support for Flash. This has caused me serious problems, I simply can't view most Youtube vids and I want to do an on-line course but the videos offered as part of the course are all Flash based, well, you can see my problem.
What I want to know is: is there a solution to this? If not, this is a deal breaker for me, I can't see any way out, other than to stop using Linux... This, I do not want to do, I really need your help and advice.
John

Webmin / Linux Firewall problem
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 22, 2012
First I used the firestarter to control my firewall, but I think I wanna use the on in webmin instead, but after adding my first rule I ran into a problem.
iptables-restore v1.4.12:
The "nat" table is not intended for filtering, the use of DROP is therefore inhibited.
Error occurred at line: 9
Try `iptables-restore -h' or 'iptables-restore --help' for more information.
What does that mean ? The first rule is to block all access to the webmin port: 10000 except from one of my local network computers with IP 192.168.0.112
Hope someone can help a Linux newbie
linux mintsound problem
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 30, 2011
Hi folks. for the last week or so, i guess. I've been having sound problems either with the internet or locally. At first it was with the internet, wheras if i played video or audio from anything on the hard drive it was fine. I restarted the computer, saw that in sessions i had 2 main choices xclient script, and gnome. There was also failsafe gnome and failsafe terminal.
I went with gnome. This time I got sound on internet pages such as youtube, but none when playing video or audio stuff on hds ie no sound.
I restarted again, this time choosing failsafe gnome.
This time, i got sound from both net and hds.
The computer was switched off last night and back on this morning.
I didn't check to see what session i was logging into.
Anyway there was sound on the hds, but none on the net.
I restarted the computer, this time looked at the session options, and i think gnome was ticked. I changed it to failsafe
gnome, but it made no difference. there was still only sound coming from au
Linux have problem with video card.
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 4, 2013
Hello, I'm very new to Linux, but not to computers in general. I really have no idea what I am doing on Linux as of now, so I'm trying to learn fast.
My first issue is I cant seem to get my Nividia GeForce 550 TI to work with Linux Mint, how would I go about telling the OS to use this video card and not my motherboards?
Edit:
I do not have any of the GeForce softwear downloaded, because when I attempt to download it I cant execute any files even though I downloaded the Linux verion. I also attempted to use my disk that came with the video card, yet failed to prevale.
Browser Linux DHCP Problem
location: linuxquestions.com - date: November 12, 2013
2013-11-12
I am having a very strange wireless connection problem using Browser Linux 401 on a particular computer. The same machine connects to the Internet well using the same wireless adapter in Ubuntu 12.04. When used on my other two machines, Browser Linux goes online fine using the same wireless adapter, namely an IOgear WU625 wireless-n whose driver is RTL8192.
I am listing my wireless test data I've collected hoping that some Puppy Linux or Browser Linux users can help me. I tend to believe that this may be a wireless setup or DHCP issue, and not a hardware one.
(1) Simple Network Setup shows
Interface=wlan0
Type=wireless
Driver=rtl819XU
Bus=x
Description=x
(2) After I select my SSID, WEP, enter the Key and click Connect, Simple Network Setup returns
"DHCP failed to negotiate with wireless network"
(3) Wireless IP information
