Live linux usb with xubuntu: persitent mode and best installation?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 28, 2014
Around two weeks I discovered the magnificent fact that you can have a linux distribution in an USB with persistent mode. I used this program http://www.linuxliveusb.com/ to create my "xubuntu Usb" because my computer it's a little limitated and I only wanted linux for some programming matters, so I though xubuntu would be great taht it's lighter with a pretty nice looking interface. But I have some "problems".
First of all, I seached in internet for information about the annoying "Try/Install Window" and how to quit it but I only found how to do it in ubuntu modifying the syslinux.cfg file. Also, my Usb doesn't save some of my settings (my personal shortcuts for example) and I found that modifying syslinux.cfg this problem is solved too, so, in xubuntu, what can I do for solving these two "problems"?
Another thing that I would ask is if using the "linux Live Usb Creator" I get a nice installation or you recommend me ano
usb digital camera problem
location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 27, 2003
I just purchased a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LC33. Under the USB view configuration program it shows the camera when the camera is on. However, I cannot download images from it. Also, the camera is not listed under the default Mandrake 9.0 digital camera configuration section. I figure the USB port recognizes the camera so there should be some way of simply downloading the pictures from it. Any help will be very much appreciated. Thanks
Linux Mint black screen problem.
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 30, 2011
I've been using ubuntu for quite a long time.
I want to try out linux mint.
I downloaded the linux mint image from the website and burned it to a disk.
But when I inserted the disk, there were two lines at first [which read something about "isolinux" or something]. And then the screen went black.
i then burned at the lowest speed and still I get the same problem.
This was my experience with linux mint 10 CD.
I downloaded the linux mint 11 DVD and burned [at the lowest speed].
But when I inserted the DVD, I get the same problem.
I went to my friends computer. I put the linux mint 10 CD in his PC.
There it was.
It was working well.
My friend has a windows xp [ Dunno if this helps, but still ]
Damn Small Linux USB Install
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 10, 2008
I have a 128mb pendrive that I really don't need anymore so I tried to play with DSL Linux a bit.
I have copied the DSL-embedded version to my pendrive and everything works fine except that I cannot restore the settings I made, for example changing the keyboard to German, setting passwords for root and user, changing bookmarks in firefox.
I tried to backup in sda1 via the panel, but it crashes, and when I select backup on reboot or shutdown, next time I boot again the settings are gone.
Anyone here can help me, DSL forum doesn't let me register.
Bootable damn small linux USB drive with Asus EEE 2g
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: August 4, 2008
I was interested in buying an Asus EEE a little while back but have been saving money for tuition. The 4g seems perfect, but I was wondering if it's possible to get the 2g and make a bootable USB stick with DSL or some other small linux distro?
I'd like to be able to install some packages and be able to code projects for school and I don't think the 2G can handle this alone. How possible is it to just get a big USB drive and run entirely off of that... or is that not possible at all? I'm not too familiar with the process.

Wireless USB suspend/resume problem RTL8192SU adapter

Well, the kernel giveth and the kernel taketh away, or something like that. I've installed 11.04 and hadn't had any major glitches until I suspended/resumed a machine with an RTL8192SU plugged in. The adapter would not resume. If I unplugged and plugged in again it works perfectly
