how do i show line numbers in kdevelop?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: September 1, 2003
I just got kdevelop going, and it's all going fine, but I was just wondering how to make it show the line numbers. You know, beside each line it has that line number on the left. It's a minor thing but it's very important to me to be able to see them. Could someone point me to the right setting??
thanks in advance!!

How can I get emacs to show line numbers when the 'textmodehook appears not to be working?
location: linuxexchange.com - date: January 1, 1970
I am trying to use setnu.el to give me line numbers in emacs, which as you might imagine I want in pretty much every mode. It seemed like the preffered way of doing this in Emacs is to use
(add-hook 'text-mode-hook 'turn-on-setnu-mode)
but this isn't working for me. Using
(add-hook 'emacs-lisp-mode-hook 'turn-on-setnu-mode)
works just fine when I am editing emacs lisp files, but I want line numbers in all my text viewing and don't want to have a special case for each kind of file in my init.d file. Help would be much appreciated.
Display Line numbers in VI editor
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 18, 2010
we display line numbers in vi editor by typing ":set nu"
but I want VI to display line numbers as soon as I open a file (meaning I don't have to type ":set nu").
I believe this is possible by setting some environment variable for VI. But I don't know exactly what variable to set and how to set.

Prepend # for certain line numbers in VI
location: linuxquestions.com - date: September 4, 2005
I'm editting some nagios configs and I'm using vi as my editor. I need to preprend comments '#' for certain line numbers. I'm tired of putting '#' for each line that needs commenting manually. Is there a sed command in vi that can do this? I tried a couple ways and failed miserably. Thanks.
Can AbiWord show line and column numbers?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: January 12, 2006
I've seen comments about a "Show line numbers" option under preferences, but I haven't got any "Show" prefs in my v2.4.1.
Does anyone have the option to show line and column numbers in abiword, and if so, what is the version please?
(... and if you happen to know where to download a deb!)
