Why does Vim save files with a extension?
location: linuxexchange.com - date: March 3, 2009
I've found that while using Vim on Windows Vim saves the file, a .ext.swp file that's deleted on closing the Vim window and a .ext~ file.
I assume the .ext.swp file is a session backup in case Vim crashes. What's the purpose of the .ext~ file however? Is this a permanent backup file? It's annoying as I'd like to copy all the files I'm working on to my host, without these duplicates. How can I turn this off or, if it's there for a good reason, hide the files?

[SOLVED] Where does ZSNES put save files?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 15, 2007
I'm wanting to back up my game saves before I do a clean install of Gutsy this weekend, but I can't find them! When I used the Windows versions of ZSNES, I noticed that your saves are put in your games folder as .srm files, but that doesn't seem to be the case with the Linux version. I checked the pathway in the GUI, it's empty, so where is it storing my save points?
Thanks in advance.
