Linux VPN Software How to Connect to a Windows VPN
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 7, 2006
I have a linux machine that I will be using to connect to my work VPN. The VPN is controlled by a Symantec Firewall/VPN box and our Windows Machines use the Symantec Client VPN to connect to the VPN Box.
I was curious how I can do this with Linux. Is there an opensource VPN software I can use? also, is it possible to do a remote desktop connection to a Windows machine via Linux?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Back up a Windows computer using Linux backup software
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 21, 2012
I feel this question must have been asked and answered a thousand times in different ways but I'm blowed if I can find an exact answer to my query.
I would like to be able to back-up a Windows installation including user files, settings, e-mail, program data etc... using a linux program.
I know I can mount the disk and just copy the files & folders, but I want more than that...
Ideally I would would like to have an application that selects all the relevant bits and does the backup to my chosen media in a similar way to Fabs Autobackup-2. I have found Fabs is great for this job on XP machines from a Windows PE environment, but does not do Vista or Windows 7.
This imaginary software would also have an easy to use "Restore" button, which could then repopulate a users profile once I had completed my work on their computer, for example following completion of a windows re-build.
I'm sure someone else has thought of this, but I cannot find the solut
what Linux quiz software do you use?
location: linuxquestions.com - date: March 13, 2010
I'm looking for a cross-platform, preferably gtk quiz program. I couldn't really find what i need yet. All quiz programs seem to be for kids.
I need it to make quizes for myself about things i'm prone to forget, such as electronics, work-related stuff. Something i can do in 5 min. while drinking the morning cofee. It would be nice to include a picture in the question, so i could memorize schematics and such.
I used such a thing in the past, a small windows program and it helped me to learn functions of the cash regiesters i used to fix. I need it cross platform so i could use it on windows machines also.
I'm not really interested in web-based quizzes because i couldn't make a lamp server work in the past.
Right now I'm using Pop Quiz http://sourceforge.net/projects/popquiz/ , but it is not really alive.
Linux Quiz Software
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 30, 2008
I am looking to setup a Linux class for some beginners but I am looking for some open source quiz packages that I can use to quickly and easily create quizzes. It would be great if it were able to store information in a database and also do some graphing but that isn't too important. I just want something that allows be to judge the overall learning levels of the class. To make sure they are learning what they need to.
A Google search has returned many results but at best can only find windows versions or pay programs. While I could create something myself I want to see if there is anything out there for me to use. It would take time for me to create an open source quiz and grade program that I don't have the time to do at the moment as the first class is Tuesday but the first quiz would be later in week. Would be nice it could also be remotely accessible. I could do this with the php and html but as I said before I am on a tight schedule.

Installation and Usage
*Note:* There is a bug in Mint with it's espeak and pulseaudio, not the app itself. However these bugs do not affect the program, and it still opperates just fine and good.
sudo apt-get install espeak mbrola
Choose your voices. There are many, but for all english ones, do
sudo apt-get install mbrola-us1 mbrola-us2 mbrola-us3 mbrola-en1
Many mbrola voices can be installed through apt-get in Ubuntu/Mint. Some such as mbrola-mx1 are not available through apt. If you wish to install those. Follow the manual installation below for them.
yum install espeak
Fedora and other rpm based systems do not have mbrola and mbrola packages afaik. However this is not a problem. Continue to follow the manual installation for

What I'd like to find is the type of program where you can click on a word in the King James Version and have it show you the Strong's # reference, then I could just look it up in the Strong's Dictionary.
Is there any program like that for Linux??
Thanks for any information.
