Yep, I used wireless to upgrade from Ubunttu 8.04 to 8.10 and finally 9.04, and NetworkManager lost control of my wired Ethernet interface in the transition from 8.04 to 8.10. I did manage to find a fix very quickly, and I can confirm that it does indeed work.
Ubuntu 12.04 LTS LibreOffice upgrade breaks report builder AGAIN
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 25, 2013
The most recent upgrade to LibreOffice (1:4.0.4~rc2-0ubuntu1~precise1) has broken libre-office-report-builder (1:1.2.3+LibO4.0.4~rc2-0ubuntu1~precise1) AGAIN! Any attempt to execute a report built under the previous version of LibreOffice or to create a new report under this version causes LibreOffice to CRASH and exit without any error message.
I would really really like to use Ubuntu 12.04 for professional and business applications but this is the 2nd time I have been burned by an Update Manager update to LibreOffice and have had to move a project back to Windows!
Is there any way I can revet my Ubuntu 12.04 to the previous version of LibreOffice (i.e. one that works)!
How to upgrade ubuntu 8.04 to 10.04
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: February 17, 2011
I have been using Ubuntu 8.04 hardy with dell inspiron mini. Now I wanted to upgrade to new version. But I could not upgrade.
When I go to update manager, it never show me new release. So, I have downloaded ubuntu-10.04.1-i386.iso file in my computer and also ubuntu-10.04.1-alternate-i386.iso files but I do not know how to use this upgrade file.
I try to some options available from forum but does not work.
I try this command as well
sudo mount -o loop ~/Desktop/ubuntu-10.04-alternate-i386.iso /media/cdrom0
it does not worked.
I did trying using unetbooting-linux-494 and it works but in the installation step 4 0f 7 could not fix.

dmraid not working after upgrade ubuntu 9.04 to 10.04
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 23, 2012
I had ubuntu 9.04 in raid-1 configuration with 2 x 500gb sata disks with intel dmraid.
After an upgrade from ubuntu 9.04 to 10.04 lts, system boots fine but now running fdisk i can not see /dev/mapper entries and system boots and uses only the first disk (/dev/sda1).
How can I re-assemble the array so the system can boot from it and not from a single disk?
Below I am posting fdisk and fstab settings:

VMWare Player not compiling after upgrade to Ubuntu 11.04 from 10.10
location: linuxquestions.com - date: May 1, 2011
Until I upgraded to Ubuntu 11.04 I had a working vmware player. I have been aware of a compile error fix that had to be used from time to time but it doesn't solve this problem. (Something to do with file permissions I think).
Now hen I start the player it says I need to compile things into the kernel and after doing so it fails and tells me to look at the log file.
And this is it:

Ubuntu 9.04 to 10.04 upgrade failed help please!
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 27, 2011
Hello all - been a while since I've been here but seems active as ever!
Last night I attempted to upgrade my old IBM laptop from 9.04 (support just expired) to 10.4 LTS - seemed to be doing fine until a bug report dialog box appeared stating a desktop application bug; I saved the file to the DT and was planning to view later.
However, on multiple attempts to reboot the computer, the program gets to the opening Ubuntu logo, then the screen goes black, & and hard drive symbol is unlit - just frozen. Is there anyway to recover from this problem or do I need to start anew? the machine has no internal CD drive (have an external one from which I loaded my original Ubuntu distro probably 3 yrs ago or so). I do have a large USB thumb drive but not sure if this laptop would boot a live distro from it?
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated - thanks, as always.
