Debian SID + X.org from Ubuntu = BIG MESS
location: linuxquestions.com - date: April 2, 2005
I was actually able to get x.org running but it broke some stuff too (sound, KDM). Now I just want to get my system back to how it was -- but I can't!
Apt won't let me install xfree86-common without uninstalling all of kde and gnome and a bunch of other stuff. Somehow I accidentally "infected" my system with a handful of packages from Ubuntu -- including the 'apt' package itself!
How can I get back to all of the latest packages from Debian SID with NONE of the Ubuntu packages?
W: GPG error: http://www.openprinting.org lsb3.2
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: August 15, 2012
I get the following message when updating now:
W: GPG error: http://www.openprinting.org lsb3.2 Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 7A4B44C2D2A2203E
Is there something wrong with the repository for "www.openprinting.org". I think this has been in my software sources list for some time now and it is all of a sudden becoming a problem. Seems to not be updating because of some key problem I guess.
Any fixes or is there a new repository or something?
I'm still on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS...

Did you know that LQ recently rolled out a new merchandise store? This allows you to purchase some great LQ and Linux related gear while helping LQ at the same time. Visit the new LQ Merchandise store at http://www.zazzle.com/linuxquestions* or let us know what you think http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...-store-880367/ at LQ.
Would you like to help LinuxQuestions.org and the greater Linux community? The LQ Wiki is a collaboratively built knowledge base for all things Linux and Open Source

I tried to enter ubuntuforums.org a while ago and saw an announcement saying it has been compromised. Seems that the crackers got the users' database too. Thought I'd post here, for people who use both UF and LQ (like me; though I don't regularly use Ubuntu, I do hang at UF sometimes). This is part of the announcement at UF:
[SOLVED] Ubuntuforums.org password breach (question for Jeremy)
location: linuxquestions.com - date: July 22, 2013
Color me stupid, lazy, whatever.
But I was using the same passowrd and nym on Ubuntuforums as I use on LQ and/or AQ.
Starting with LQ I successfully changed my password, and it updated my Iceweasel saved passwords - then I jumped to Android Forum (via the Main Menu) and was automatically logged in as usual, but Iceweasel hadn't changed. So I entered my old password and new password (twice) and it updated both on AQ and Iceweasel.
Did I do this right? Or does changing my LQ password automagically change my AQ password?
Jeremy, perhaps you could write a brief sticky how-to whatever on both LQ and AQ home pages - just in case there are others like me who trusted UbuntuForums as I have come to trust LQ.
Now I have to wait on Canonical fixing their forums so that I can change my password there to something unrelated to any other sites!
Thanks in advance.
