Menu problems with Clementine (QT app) in gnome
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: June 24, 2011
Hello, I've been using Clementine as my primary music player for a few months now. I run "vanilla" ubuntu 11.04, which means GNOME and Compiz.
I often have a problem where the menus won't appear correct in Clementine, which is the only QT app I use:
Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks in advance.
Problems with Infinality and Ubuntu GNOME 14.04
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 22, 2014
I am on my 4th re-install of Ubuntu GNOME 14.04. I've narrowed down my problem to Infinality. I enable the Infinality repo from:
I install their updated freetype and config utility.
I then reboot and the machine hangs with the monitor off. I put the machine to sleep, wake it up and get a low graphics mode error. I can't get the machine to even boot to a terminal.
Anyone else seen this?

Problems with desktop icons on Ubuntu 9.10 (gnome)
location: linuxquestions.com - date: December 17, 2009
Ok so I've tried to solve this for days now, and I didn't imagine such a trivial problem could be so impossible.
So I'm dual booting Win 7 and Karmic Koala, and cause I do use them in a equal rate I'm using 1 ntfs partition as a storage drive for both Operating systems.
So I used pysdm to auto mount my storage partition at boot, and cause I use desktop icons (shortcut,links...whatever) I've linked some of my folders to the desktop via drag and drop and "link here" option.
My problems is that every time I reboot ubuntu those icons rearrange to some default position no matter where I put them on my desktop, and in some occasions they overlap.
So can pleas someone help cause I'm going mad here. I've posted on so many forums and no one seems to answer. By now if someone just told me that it can't be fixed, it would be great.
Shed some light!
Theme for QT app executed with SSH+X11
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: January 31, 2012
I've developed an app with QT. When I execute this app in local, I get something like the "local.jpg" image attached. But when I execute it using SSH+X11 I get something like the "remote.jpg" image. I think SSH changes the theme.
Do you know how can I avoid this behavior. I prefer the remote look&feel, but I don't mind if I only get the local one. I just want to avoid it changes.
Both remote and local systems are Ubuntu.
Thanks in advance!
Problems with QT compat32 in Slackware64
location: linuxquestions.com - date: August 30, 2009
This problem is similar to the one I posted earlier except this one isn't fixing itself . Whenever I try to compile a program that is dependent on QT I keep getting warning like this.
CMake Warning at /usr/share/apps/cmake/modules/KDE4Macros.cmake:561 (add_library):
Cannot generate a safe runtime search path for target plasma_applet_cwp
because there is a cycle in the constraint graph:
dir 0 is [/usr/lib/qt/lib]
dir 1 must precede it due to runtime library [libQtSvg.so.4]
dir 1 is [/usr/lib64/qt/lib]
dir 0 must precede it due to runtime library [libQtXml.so.4]
Some of these libraries may not be found correctly.
Call Stack (most recent call first):
I understand what this warning means, It basically saying its looking at /usr/lib/ first and then /usr/lib64 second? I know that is not right and that is why I am gett

10.10: Works fine with GNOME(failsafe), but have problems with GNOME(default)
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: December 1, 2013
I'm using a Ubuntu 10.10 on a Barton 2500 + MX440 legacy box, and I'm using Nvidia driver 96.xx.
If I login with GNOME(default session), the task bar(the bottom bar) and the system bar(the upper bar) do not show up. If I start applications like firefox from desktop shortcut, the application can work normally.
If I choose GNOME(failsafe), the whole desktop shows up as it should.
Where can I find a log to tell what is wrong? How can I possibly fix the problem?
Problems with Suspend After 13.10 Upgrade (Gnome)
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: October 26, 2013
My computer is not suspending since I upgraded to 13.10. I see a Gnome notification at the bottom of my screen telling me that my computer is about to suspend due to lack of activity, but it just remains on. Where is the suspend behavior defined and where can I see log files detailing what happens when my computer tries to suspend?
Problems with pidgin on Ubuntu 12.04 (Gnome)
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: November 23, 2012
First of all, when I want to open Pidgin, the window appears and it's "blank", it says "Connecting ..." and nothing happens. If I open pidgin as root, then it's working fine.
Another problem is with links and files received on conversations. I use Opera as default browser and when i'm clicking on a link, the page is opened in an old Opera session. The same thing happens with images, pdf files, doc files, etc. All of them are opened with Opera.
And the last problem is with file transfer using Yahoo protocol. I can receive files but when I want to send something to a friend, he don't receive any notification to save that file. Sometimes I can send files, but most of the time, it doesn't work.
