KeePassX how to reset default (Master Key) password
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: November 19, 2012
Well, i lost the KeePassX default password.
* I don't need to retrieve it *, there were just some pass inside i dont need...
But i can not reset. I Need it working or Ubuntu One and other programs gives an error if i cancel the KeePassX when it prompts me for the default pass.
I tryed sudo apt-get --purge remove keepassx
(the purge should remove all configurations, right? WRONG, it does not. Is this a bug? We uninstall something with --purge remove and it leaves garbage on the system???)
Not even with --purge remove, i install it again and it asks for the same master key default password.
I tryed to google and to look in keepassx homepage and didnt see nothing that helps me.
So PLEASE someone gimme a hand. I can't use ubuntu software central sincronization nor ubuntu one and other stuff gives me error if i cancel the key password window.
Git, How to reset origin/master to a commit?
location: linuxexchange.com - date: January 1, 1970
I reset my local master to a commit by this command:
git reset --hard e3f1e37
when I enter $ git status command, terminal says:
# On branch master
# Your branch is behind 'origin/master' by 7 commits, and can be fast-forwarded.
# (use "git pull" to update your local branch)
nothing to commit, working directory clean
Since I want to reset origin/header as well, I checkout to origin/master:
$ git checkout origin/master
Note: checking out 'origin/master'.
You are in 'detached HEAD' state. You can look around, make experimental
changes and commit them, and you can discard any commits you make in this
state without impacting any branches by performing another checkout.
If you want to create a new branch to retain commits you create, you may
do so (now or later) by using -b with the checkout command again. Example:
git checkout -b new_branch_name
HEAD is now at 2aef1de... master problem fixed for master. its okay now.
and reset the header by this command:
$ git reset --h
Reset all Gnome 3 (3.8) settings to default? Ubuntu 13.04
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 21, 2013
I was wondering if someone could tell me how to do a complete reset of gnome 3.8 to default settings? As if I just installed fresh and logged in for the first time?? I adjusted some settings somewhere and fonts arent quite rite and other odds and sodds are not rite. So I was thinking if there were some commands to do a full reset back to scratch, that would be really good. There was no problems after the install, things were quite snappy, but play as I do with various settings, I have managed to mess things up a bit. I have searched around and have only found posts from a year or so ago and am afraid to use those for fear of making things worse. Thanks in advance for any help you could so graciously provide.
Reset to default font rendering?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 11, 2012
Like the topic says. I compiled/installed a freetype font patch from Infinality (http://www.infinality.net/blog/infin...etype-patches/) using these directions (http://www.infinality.net/forum/view...?f=2&t=77#p794) and after a good deal of tinkering around with the overrides myself, I'd like to get back to the default freetype rendering method, if that's possible. (I was just using the font configuration file from the Fonts page on the wiki, and I was okay with that.) Any help on this would be appreciated.

newbie wanting easy windows workgroup file share / master browser
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 16, 2011
Need to get a server to replace aging windows workstation file-share box.
What server OS is best bet for someone new to Linux (if any!)?
Does Calculate Directory Server support MS workgroup (docs say 'designed to be windows domain manager')?
Perhaps Ubuntu, with paid support , would be a better bet?
What of the suggestions of TheRegister:
ClearOS and SME Server - any votes for these to support an MS workgroup?
And, should 2 sites of 17 laptop users (total), mostly split equally between sites, remain in 2 workgroups, or are there neat ways, on minimal bandwidth, to enable them to join a domain depending upon which site they are visiting?
Received a used netbook want to reset factory settings but need to remove Ubuntu .
location: linuxquestions.com - date: March 14, 2011
I recently purchased a used netbook - AUSU Eee PC 1015 PE - they had installed Ubuntu as a second operating system - I want to give this netbook to my son but I want to reset EVERYTHING to the factory settings. This machine can reset pretty easy but I can't get it to work for me. So I thought maybe is was the Ubuntu that was in the way... I went to Windows 7 - uninstalled Ubuntu, rebooted and it is still there, I then booted Windows 7 again and searched in programs and can not find Ubuntu. So now what? I have tried to press the F9 key as directed and nothing happens.
I do see a few different versions of Ubuntu on the boot up menu as well as Windows 7, Windows Vista
I want to uninstall Ubuntu, reset factory setting, and reinstall Ubuntu - That's it! Before my son's b-day on the 19th!!
Any help, suggestions is GREATLY appreciated!
Games cause Ubuntu to..."reset"
location: linuxquestions.com - date: February 23, 2011
I recently inherited my parents' old Compaq Presario 6000. My laptop is dual booted with arch and windows 7, but I wanted this computer to run something different, so because only Ubuntu will let easytether to work, i chose it. I installed ii-esu, exult, and holotz castle so i had something to do between homework and writing. All three cause my screen to black for a second, then reverts to the login screen. At first i thought it was just my hardware and decided to play I Wanna Be The Guy using Wine. I had run the game before under windows, so i knew it should work. When i tried to run it, i got the same result as with the aforementioned games, except this one brought up the start screen for about a split second before reverting back to the login screen. Since that ruled out a hardware problem, i decided to try Desktop Dungeons with no success. So basically i have 3 games installed through the Ubuntu software center, and 2 games that worked fine in windows, and all 5 are causing Ubuntu

A friend was supposed to help me setup a Linux Server and after some time of not using the server because it was missing a drive i got tired of waiting and decided to rescue my data. Now i'm stuck at the login prompt and he has forgotten the user ID.
how can i recover the password for this server? I've done some looking up and there seems to be several methods, but i'm a total noob at Linux and I need step by step help. pleeeeeease.
