One issue with Linux Distros is you pay a price
location: linuxquestions.com - date: November 4, 2013
Some Newbies will eventually run into this: I find that I have a habit of immersing myself in linux for a while and then moving to other things once my "project" is running nice. Well, I needed to get a new printer ... so now I have to install the drivers and get everything running and right now I don't have the time and patience to mess with it. I'm fed up with windows but Linux is higher maintenance sometimes. Thus, you pay the price of higher maintance in having time to forget linux commands/methods and having to relearn them when you need them.

Ubuntu 12.04 won't recognise the Micromax MMX377G USB Modem
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: September 19, 2013
I switched to Ubuntu 12.04 (64bit) completely 2 mths back from Windows. I was using Reliance Netconnect wth Huwai Modem, configuration for which was pretty much automatic. However, I am having to switch to another connection BSNL on Micromax MMX377G. It came with an instruction manual, but i have been unsuccessful in configuring it s far.
here it goes.
Step 1 : plugging in the dongle with SIM (all unlocked)
Step 2 : Check the device
~$ ls /dev/sr*
Now the manual says if it shows the above output, it means that th software has been installed before and the asks me to uninstall it with the following :
~$ sudo dpkg -r 3g_modem_connect_D301_MMX_amd64.deb
dpkg: error: you must specify packages by their own names, not by quoting the names of the files they come in.
Step 3 : Mount
~$ sudo mount /dev/sr0 /mnt
mount: no medium found on /dev/sr0
So i searched online there were lots of threads on previous models,
I did the following :

Is Cedega worth the price?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: March 26, 2006
After trying the cedega timedemo for a few days now I've been thinking about if the Cedega is really worth its price...
Only about half of the games I've tried is working and some of them dont work fully. If you pay $5 a month you want it to work right?
Games like CS:S and HL2 worked fine but what an perfomance loss! I have it on
medium graphics and its lagging like ****, in Win I can max out the graphics without any lag at all. (And yes I have the right drivers installed).
Anyone else here who have the same thoughts as me?

Right now, you can get Aquaria, Gish, World of Goo, Penumbra: Overture, and Lugaru as part of name-your-price bundle--all DRM free and with Windows, Mac, and Linux executables. Also, you can choose where the money goes--to the devs, the EFF, or Child's Play (charity).
