Missing Media Tab in Nautilus Preferences
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 9, 2012
Hi - using 12.04
Does anyone know where the Media tab has gone from Nautilus' preferences?
I have ended up using gconf-editor to reset settings. But the media tab was useful, also I have read that a Removable Media setting should be in System Settings -> Hardware...? I do not have this
[edit: the problem I am having is when connecting my Android phone, RhythmBox opens automatically, I do not want it to. Unfortunately changing those settings in gconf-editor - Nautilus, have done nothing. I have removed all references to RhythmBox out of ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list . However it's still opening]
Missing media.cfg file on Mandriva 2009
location: linuxquestions.com - date: November 18, 2008
I have been trying alternate distrobutions on my laptop and just did a fresh install of Mandriva2009 from the LiveCD(KDE). I am having problems getting it to add sources for updates. I went to easyurpmi.zarb.org. I was able to add the PLF sources without a problem. But, when I tried to add the official sources, I get the following error:
"Unable to add medium, error reported:
...retrieving failed: rsync failed: exited with 35
unable to access the distribution medium (no media.cfg file found)
Aren't the PLF sources saved in the same media.cfg file as the official sources? I am not even sure where the file should be located. If they are linking to two different *.cfg files, I am wondering if I can create a dummy file and update it? Or, copy the media.cfg file from my 2008.1 machine at home over to the laptop. I could then remove the 2008.1 sources and add the 2009 sources. Can anyone offer some help with this?

When I insert an audio CD Sound Juicer controls the open founder. I deleted Sound Juicer and now Brasero has taken control.
How can I get nautilus to default open the CD/folder in Music Player?
Note: System settings doesn't work when trying to set the default action. When I try to point it to Deepin Music player (usr/bin/...) it won't accept it (permission conflict??).

I used to install sh files and bin files just by changing the file to executable in nautilus and then clicking on it. I used to get some options like this:

Missing icons in Unity, Cinnamon and Nautilus
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: May 21, 2012
I don't know what I did to cause this. I installed Ubuntu 12.04 x64 yesterday and then I installed Cinnamon. It worked for a while, but then suddenly most of the icons disappeared and reverted to some default/generic/placeholder icons. I think it happened the first time I tried to drag/edit the Firefox icon on the Cinnamon "start menu" (wanted to replace it with Chromium). I also played around with some themes to make Cinnamon look good with Ubuntu, but I'm not sure if that triggered it. Have a look at this screenshot; any help much appreciated:
Nautilus frame missing with Gnome 3.10
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: November 18, 2013
After replacing Unity with Gnome 3.10, the Ubuntu windows theme was replaced with a Gnome theme. I then used gnome-tweak-tools to get back the Ubuntu theme.
But some programs don't look right. Among them Nautilus, which is missing its entire frame:
And also the arrows are missing from the scrollbar. Here from the terminal:
Any ideas how to repair the issues? Here are screenshots of my settings in gnome-tweak-tools.
14.04 update Nautilus missing window border?
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: April 26, 2014
I just updated to 14.04 last night and suddenly nautilus ('Files') seems to be missing its window border. This problem is specific to Nautilus - all other apps behave correctly. I'm using GNOME and Ubuntu x64.
A screenshot is attached. Does anyone have any ideas on the cause of this issue or any solutions?

cant burn anything, nautilus says blank, k3b says no media
location: ubuntuforums.com - date: January 18, 2009
I've looked in these forums, looked in google and couldnt find anything useful for my situation, maybe someone could shed some light here..
I want to burn an ISO image, so I pop the blank cd in the drive, nautilus says its blank, go to K3b and he says "No Medium Present", so I give it a few seconds to see if it just hasnt noticed... nothing, couple of minutes, nothing. So I go to gnomeBaker which seems to find the cd, start the burning, finishes supposedly ok, it ejects it and I pop it in again, nautilus says blank cd, K3b keeps saying No Medium Present... so I try to burn with gnomeBaker once again except this time it fails...
here is the output from the second gnomeBaker try:
wodim: No write mode specified.
wodim: Asuming -tao mode.
wodim: Future versions of wodim may have different drive dependent defaults.
wodim: Operation not permitted. Warning: Cannot raise RLIMIT_MEMLOCK limits.scsidev: '/dev/hda'
